ugh. I have an idea for a game and I don't know if it'll work and to find out I'd basically have to make the whole game, which would be technically tricky. I don't think I can easily prototype this at all, and I really don't want to spend a week coding a non-game

basically I want to build a game out of 3D Movie Maker's camera system, by changing the controls to let you move a character around the world, and have the camera change to match as you move around. basically making a game like the original Resident Evil with the fixed camera angles?

ugh godot might make this hard because of the 3D trickery we'd need to be doing with the background. I've loaded the backgrounds before (they have a pre-rendered zbuffer, to make them act like they're 3D), but that was in some manual OpenGL

Actually, because you can load your own shader into the sky rendering pipeline, you could just write a shader which draw a texture straight as it is from all camera angles, thus allowing you to have fixed backgrounds, then use sprites on the 2D layer for foreground elements of the backgrounds. :B
