I miss art collabs. Remember when artists would do a drawing and pass it back and forth between each other until it was done? Why did we stop doing that??

👏 bring 👏 them 👏 back 👏 i think it's a mix of artists having less time/the constant hustling and lack of stable community spaces that play into this the sentiment is still here, but we need to carve a space for it to blossom i do miss old forums and dA for how they promoted collabs

i did some collabs recently with a patreon community of another artist and it dawned on me then just how sparse these comfy creative spaces are these days, just how much the internet landscape changed over the years

I didn't really post art for years so I didn't really notice, but when I was, the art space I was a part of was FLOODED with art and animations that were open collabs (drawing your OC with theirs) and stuff like that. I miss it Maybe once I get my art tablet in a month I should host some collabs...

aw this hits a sweet spot for me - back in 2016 I did this a lot!! here's one I did with a friend, we gave ourselves a prompt then passed the line art over to coloured in by the other person (there piece is lost in the grave of old hard drives sadly) but super fun way of seeing how others work!

I had some use art collabs to use me for art. And had some ghost me while telling me "I will do my part" and never did. So I stopped doing them. But man I've always wanted to do a real art collab with someone 🥺

I believe they still do. I believe @ssavaart.bsky.social and Kim Diaz Holm did something like that or similar. I know most definitely they tried their respective artistic mediums. Scott with water colors or Gouache and Kim with his ink blot misters.

There's a few accounts around that say they're an artist duo, but the art posted always has consistent style and I just wonder what is happening behind the scenes?? Give me the DVD extras! I need to know!!!

Now that you mention it you’re so right… I think the shadowing of small hashtags, especially used by small accounts, on the big social media sites really killed most of them off :/

I’m hesitant to reach out and hesitant to reciprocate interest because it’s majorly been an unspoken expectation of mutually beneficial exposure; so for a small time creator like myself, I have no followers to offer and so in turn have no outside interest in collaboration. 🥲 I would love to collab.

I like it when the styles are vastly different. My friend and I did something like this in school I was into semi-realism and she was really good at zentangles so I drew the linework of a raven and painted a few areas and she shaded the rest with patterns. It looked really cool actually like a comic

The artists I know who did art collabs just don't have the time these days - but in a refreshingly lighthearted twist it's mostly cause they're now busy working professionally 🥹 (Also tho, social media keeps pushing artists to only do money things. Bring back chill art collabs yeahhhhhh 🫶🏾)

I honestly don't know, I think despite it slowly getting better for artists not in a company over time, the world probably just beat it out of us to work together one way or another. I hope and even wanna work to artists collabing more to make something even better together one day.

Yes! Personally, I've had the pleasure of doing quite a few collabs this year using Magma, the platform is super easy to sketch on and make multiple layers! 💖 I'm hoping the art community flourishes here on bsky so more of us can connect on this level!

Omg yeah that was so fun!! I used to do it with friends as well as coloring in pieces of bigger creators. Me and a friend actually did something similar at dutch comicon by painting in wolverines forehead and letting others finish it.
