What's something you learn about Aseprite (me) after several years of drawing pixel art?

I can’t figure out why all my colors are so saturated after exporting any pixel art or animation from Aseprite. The intended colors are completely fine from my Nintendo 3DS, but after I exported my most recent animation, the colors came out way darker than what I actually used.

One of my favorite things for big projects is the slice tool along with an “export all slices” script. It definitely saves a lot of time!

a cool thing I noticed that not many people know about was that when creating a new file, it will default to the dimension of the image on the clipboard if you have one copied.

That the recolor & outline tools share the same "all/selected" toggle. I kept unintentionally outlining a bunch of other layers & having to fix it afterwards... I was wondering how that kept happening :') I use recolor on "all" & outline on "selected" so constantly having to swap it is a pain...

Oh yes, Sprite > Rotate Canvas > Flip Canvas Horizontal/Vertical 🙏 Someday we'd like to add a Preview with these effects (to check the flipped result in real-time, without modifying the undo history) 🥲

That'd be pretty amazing, but it's definitely not the worst as it stands! (unless you're trying to go back and forth in the history and flip, but I usually make a new frame or new file when I'm making significant changes so not a problem for me! Hah)

Layer > New > New Reference Layer from File is great, needs a lot of love: referencing external files without including the content in the .aseprite file, referencing external gif/videos, and better control/transformation of the floating layer as an object (scale/skew/rotate/etc.)

🤠 You have two: 1) the Contour tool (D key) my favorite, or 2) using the Lasso tool (Q key) and then the F key (Edit > Fill) to fill the selection.

That the undo history is session based, so technically if you start and finish an artwork in one session ... You can go all the way back to where you started, and then "redo" while recording for a speedpainting (speedpixeling?) recording.

Good mindset, shading and a good color palette alone, makes pixel art pop more and overall look better. Not having fun making something you're not proud of/don't want to make to please other people can greatly hinder the quality overall. And slowly but surely, make you not even want to try anymore.

idk if there's a better way for when i want to find and change a single colour across the entire canvas i add all colours to the palette, switch to indexed colour mode then unlock palette and change the colour i want with the picker and the change is reflected onto the canvas as well

probably using Shift+R (Edit > Replace Color) with the "All" option might do the job (in next versions we'll add an "Apply" button along "OK/Cancel"):

The Sprite > Color Mode > More Options? The Floyd-Steinberg Error Diffusion has a "Amount" slider to do different levels of dithering:
