I suppose the new link feature is a good time to announce that I started a tip jar 🫣 Reposting some work from this year. I have some cool stuff planned for the next couple of months! #pixelart #ドット絵

I really think the future of video games is employee ownership. In the long run, private ownership just drains resources away from the people who actually do things

Consolidation is killing our industry. The Gamergaters who make money off the rage game will have you think this is a victory. This is purely a loss. A loss of work and art and fun and expression in a space that desperately needs it. Massive fucking bummer.

Water tiles dusted. 👊 (+ many other revisions not pictured) Here's a peak at some of the new river & coast tiles. Had big momentum loss with an apartment-move followed by other happenings, and took some mega willpower to resume these water tiles which had been a big pain. Moving on!

A computer can never feel a feeling so it will never be able to properly design a game mechanic, or create attractive art, or create a really satisfying ux experience

i judge for a few festivals, and i can safely say that the games that always stand out the most are ones with personal creative care taken in every aspect of the game. people say AI should replace this but you can’t automate intentionality or love. if you bank on that then you don’t understand art.

There's some heartwarming rumors that Monday might actually be the point where a series of financial events take place that lead to the AI bubble popping. Anthropic lost 25% of its pre-ipo value this week and it looks like them and OpenAI might not be able to IPO, ever

It really feels like nobody leading this industry understands the behavioral economics of creating a product that consumers find repulsive

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
