DR OZ: If you're sitting at home as an able-bodied person on Medicaid & on average you'll watch 6.1 hours of TV or leisure time at home, you actually don't want that. Opiate use skyrockets CNBC: There are a lot of people who are on Medicaid who are there actually as caregivers, so they are working

A job that gives medical insurance is getting more rare by the moment. The biggest reason that so many jobs are part time so as not have the expense of supplying that insurance.

60% of all college classes are taught by either graduated students or adjunct faculty who are not professionals picking up a class to teach as some people will try to tell those of us who've been adjuncts.

Now he’s suggesting all those people are opiate abusers?? Must be nice being so detached from reality that you have to come up with new lies every waking moment to excuse your administration for kicking the most needy people off their healthcare.

I live in Nicaragua now. There's three tiers of health care, basic free (on the wards, provide your own family to help or hire folks), INSS, the national health and retirement insurnance, and private which is competing with free, so not thousands of dollars, generally $50 to $100, plus meds.

This guy has zero idea what a 40 work week is like it how little the worker actually makes. And Healthcare for those kinds of employees? Yeah, not in the American economy, Oz (man, he ruined Frank Balm's books!).

TV doctors and TV judges have become modern 1970s and 1980s televangelists. Grifting on the dumb, poor, or desperate hasn't been this lucrative since Jim Bakker was "preaching."

Dr Oz has always talked out of his ass. I blame Oprah for putting a spotlight on this quack. Medical professionals have always cautioned against following Oz's advice on weight loss, supplements, 'cures' and even covid. He's the celebrity Dr version of RFK Jr.

Fun fact: even though you’re right here, you’re also wrong in one specific way. He was actually a mega talented cardiac surgeon (a profession we don’t have enough of), he chose to grift. Recommend the behind the bastards podcast for a more thorough explanation

I know. He's dangerous because of his legit medical knowledge& experience. It lends credibility to his suggestions/endorsements. "according to one study, half of his publicly disseminated medical advice is wrong. Yet, his sizable audience may follow it anyway, & perhaps suffer harm as a result."

Oprah also gave us a magazine with her picture on every cover for years and years. Every single cover had her picture right at the supermarket checkout, featuring the quacks.

What a joke- they’ve slashed all the funding to “help” people find work. They’re quickly destroying the economy and they’re going to somehow magically “help” people.

1) i hate the way he speaks to her 2) the 'lazy able bodied young men playing video games' is a strawman demographic 3) it's disrespectful to those doing specific kinds of work like caretaking, that society doesn't see it as "real" work or "productivity" because it doesn't translate to economic gain

I feel proud of being one of two carer who kept my grandfather in his home until the last three or four days. And one special day when he voted on his birthday, chatted with other old men, and we drove him around the countryside. Had I been the only caretaker, it would have been a crushing burden.

I will never forget the day my father called because “doctor” oz was talking about a cure for Alzheimer’s and the quacks won’t give it to mom. there is no ring of hell deep enough for that son of a bitch

As a person that has lived with lupus for over 30 years this is so insulting. News flash corporations will not keep you if you have a chronic illness and we don't all sit around on opiates all day.

Dr. OZ doesn’t understand compulsive thought. We don’t teach mindfulness in our school systems. It’s not religion! It’s a mental health process. Mindfulness achieves victory over what Dr. Oz labels lazy by introducing the three legged stool of mindfulness:

This statistic is completely made up, but it's also not condemning in the least. 8 hours of work + 8 hours of sleep + 8 hours of leisure time = 24 hours. 6.1 < 8. If someone has 6.1 hours of leisure time, they have a full time job.

I love how they give these sweeping arguments about why millions of people should lose coverage and funding, and then AGAIN AND AGAIN bring up these anecdotes that represent some tiny fraction of people that they portray as "milking the system." Opiate use skyrockets? It has to be prescribed first.

Besides calling him a quack, what I do on disability is none of his concern. I paid in for the benefit, I do NOT use medicaid in any way (on husband's insurance,) and pay out of pocket for acupuncture so I don't have to take any type of opioid. So he can just STFU & move on!

But, that would mean actually personally communicating with The Great Unwashed, the hoi polloi. He’s way too elite for that, crooking his pinky whilst sipping his tea. Wait—that’s not tea, it’s Kool Aid.

The problem is that no one trusts this government anymore. The facts from this admistration have been inflated and misrepresented. Good example the government shut down.

He sounds like a TV coffee bean salesman that lied about the product and got sued and lost and ended up in front of congress. I think it was coffee bean extract or something. A fucking liar.

This is true. My mother took the Medicaid payout so she could stay with my grandfather and take care of him during Alzheimer’s. It was only a $1000 a month payout which was significantly cheaper than Tricare/Medicaid paying for a home health nurse.

If I’m working 18 hours a week doing Uber & then you hook me up with 20 hours somewhere else that means I’m working 2 part time jobs & neither will cover me. You’re not gonna be able to gig work your way out of fucking everyone over

Trump and his supporters crafts and gaslights narratives around a Big-Lie to create a problem that doesn't exist. "2020 ELECTION WAS STOLEN" was the big-lie of 2021 that turned a nation towards GOP. "IMMIGRANTS & ABLE-BODIED ON MEDICAID" is one big-lies of 2025 used to undermine social safety net.

WHO is behind opiate prescribing, Dr?? p.s: Unless everything has loosened up again, pt’s are told to take Motrin even if their arm has fallen off. No care providers (or pharmacies) want to have their name associated w/pill mills.

Shut up Dr. Oz you don't know anything! I used to take care of my dad and then my mom and I went to work. I'm on Medicaid, been on Medicaid for awhile and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and I still went to work when I could.

♥️ I have a friend on Medicaid because she's a caregiver for her autistic teen. She works "mothers hours" because her daughter needs someone with her 24/7. She also needs a LOT of flexibility. No workplace could offer those hours with medical benefits! And she could not afford to hire someone.

Went to daycare, because both parents had to work. Then pre-school, then K thru 12, then 6 years in the military , Then 2 years of college, worked until I’m too old to do the work, so I bring clients into the home to take care of, then I die. When do we fucking get a break.

The Black lady is not your trained seal who performs on demand, and she does not have to apologize for two white men who would’ve turned out to be assholes regardless if they were on her show or not.

What two white men did after they were on her show has nothing to do with her. Oprah doesn’t owe anyone an apology. They took their fame and they exploited it, and they became ugly, selfish, narcissistic, white man sorry not her fault.

I think it’s more that while they may not then have been the lying grifters they became, platforming them on Oprah’s show allowed for widespread notoriety & perceived credibility

As someone who has dedicated the last 3 years of my life caretaking for my dad, my aunt, my mom, and my stepdad, I can tell you that not only is it a full-time job, but far harder. The emotional toll it takes is completely beyond what I’ve had with any job. It breaks you. It just breaks you.

6abc.comUnpaid caregiving putting strain on families across the area | Resources to helpIt is an issue impacting families across the country: unpaid caregiving. For loved ones, it takes not only an incredible financial toll but an emotional one as well.

And caretaking is not only those living with family. It’s constant travel if you don’t live near them, taking over finances, moving out of the family home into a facility, endless interactions with staff to ensure proper care, being with them in hospital, hospice, funerals, POA, estate management…

My Dad passed in October. My Aunt who we brought to where my sister and I live passed in April. I closed my coaching business because I didn’t have the time or energy to continue. I’m just now dipping my toe back into that water, but unsure of myself because of the toll it’s taken on my soul.

I am not able-bodied. I'm over 65. I work from home. I'm not on Medicare/Medicaid. I don't use opiates. And I do love my leisure time. Probably at least 6 hours a day or more. Don't tell me I don't want that!

Medicaid covers health care, period. It does not pay the rent, buy groceries, make care payments, etc. Oz doesn't mention the fact that many people who qualify for Medicaid are working such low paying jobs they can't afford health insurance and/or many employers don't even offer insurance benefits!

As someone who is working FT, shouldn’t be due to my health, but can’t live off of disability since it wouldn’t even cover rent I would like to tell dr oz to go fuck himself. Most people on Medicaid are already working. Medicaid doesn’t pay the rent it pays your doctor. Intentionally misleading
