Chris Murphy: "Republicans are boycotting negotiations to reopen the govt bc they're desperate to raise premiums on people by 75% in order to finance their tax cut for the wealthy. The other reason House isn't in town? They're about to have enough votes to mandate the release of the Epstein files."

Margaret Brennan let JD Vance spew lie after lie for 20 minutes with no pushback. Then she suddenly changes course and constantly pushes back against Sen. Murphy, even showing a an out-of-context clip of him arguing against a 2018 government shutdown. This is Bari Weiss’s bend-a-knee CBS News.

No. I’ve watched her do this for years. I’ve screamed at the television for a very long time when Margaret is doing interviews. Her bias has been clear for a long time and it’s frankly baffling. I’m always happy when John Dickerson subs.

It's not about raising premiums to generate revenues. The premiums finance care. It's about gutting the program and throwing millions into a financial crisis where they must choose insurance or food/rent. Throwing millions off the program reduces government outlays, and THAT funds the tax cuts.

The solution is to extend the Insurance Premiums for 1 year. Then let the American people decide. If Republican fail to come to this agreement, then it is clear Republicans will not extend the cuts even if Democrats vote for the current cuts and reopen the government.

They are waiting for something to happen. They know they can’t keep the government shut forever. They are waiting for something that needs to happen before the money trail comes out, something that the information in those files would jeopardize.

👏👏👏 Jim Himes for pointing out that the Republicans control the House, Senate and Presidency and could stop the shutdown if they wanted to stop the shutdown. 👏👏👏 Dems get caught up in wonky dialogue and need to follow Himes lead here.

Release the Epstein list. Release the Epstein list. Release the Epstein list, you hubristic thugs. The public can be extraordinarily powerful when it pushes back. Frog attire welcomed.

Yes that's part of it, but only a small part. Extending the ACA tax credits will cost less than $30 billion for the first year, and those savings represent only a small portion of Trump's profligate tax giveaway. It's just their clunky plausible deniability for not releasing the Epstein files.

Neutrality is now impossible because inaction aids and abets the fascist coupe in power. If you don’t speak out, stand up and support The Constitutional Resistance and CHOOSE to do nothing you are passively supporting the fascist overthrow of America.

You have to ask yourself ..the Dems have been defiantly opposed to any government shutdown in the past..why now? Because MAGA IS taking away funding for healthcare and taking funding for hospitals away from Americans. Healthcare is a right, sickness and death should not be negotiable by a tyrant.

In addition, Mike Johnson may be facing a vote to remove him from the Speakership. His decision to send House Republicans on vacation rather than handle all the various business that the House could and should be handling is not playing well even with the Republican base.

all for shutdown so ALL have instaunce I have. $100 deductible we pay $245 for family per m. Medicare Tricare pay nothing out of pocket costs me: Medicare: under $200 Tricare: $245 (family coverage) nothing gets denied so why can’t everyone have quality of healthcare I have. Disabled at Dr monthly

Trump already said he would not negotiate until they open govt & we will be w/ no leverage-sure they will “negotiate” in good faith right!? This is about something bigger. Outlaw HD insurance! Someone told me they pay $4800 deductible until insurance pays! That’s one of the better ones Bullshit

Let’s hypothesise that Bondi/Patel have sanitised/destroyed the credibility of the E-files so well that they no longer contain anything of value. They play the government shutdown game for weeks & millions suffer. The E files get released & they say “we told you so” leaving Dems to take the blame?

When leadership hides, the reason is no good Supreme Court reverses lower court rulings while hiding behind the shadow docket Congressional Rs hide from press and negotiations, hide on vacation, then hide from constituents The administration hides their intentions Trump hides from accountability

A reminder: This isn’t ideology This isn’t incompetence This isn’t business as usual This isn’t temporary This isn’t normal This isn’t ethical This isn’t legal This isn’t meant to be popular This isn’t meant to be good for anyone This has been a strategic attack against the U.S. Act accordingly

And of course this MAGA owned media moron tells Murphy (and her audience) "when are Democrats going to surrender and give Republicans what they want"? Amazing how our media never once asks Republicans, whose policies are universally hated, how they will cave to Democrats. Our media is scum.
