Ten years; lots of no’s; endless networking; huge doubts; countless red eyes in middle seats; and 100k words later: the smile of a woman who just sent the final pages of the completed manuscript of her first traditionally published book to her editor!🥹 “Leading with Empathy For Dummies” drops 9/29!

So anyway I missed my domestic flight because I forgot my passport because I don't have a "real ID" and I'm both angry with myself for putting myself in this position and also angry with the government for putting me in this position

At 42, I’ve finally accepted that my favorite place to be - other than the gym - is at home. Not traveling to some fabulous country. Not at the new cool restaurant. Not at some gala or event. It’s at home on my couch with ice cold sparkling water, unlimited movie options and reliably good wine.

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.

As a south sider, I am by default a White Sox fan. I went to a bunch of games when it was still Comiskey, and I have a soft spot for Frank Thomas. So I of course love all the "Pope Leo is a Sox fan!" stories. And fun fact: we grew up 15 minutes away from each other! www.nytimes.com/2026/08/07/b...

nytimes.comA Pope From Chicago Was Elected. The White Sox Were Resurrected. The elevation of Pope Leo XIV, a Chicago native and lifelong supporter of the Sox, was a godsend for a team failing on the field and with fans.

Clive Davis really did curate the soundtrack of my childhood, and I’m truly thankful for that. What I’ll remember him most for was continuing with his Grammy party while Whitney Houston’s still-warm dead body was upstairs. May he rest in hell.

“Parable of the Sower” fundamentally shifted how I viewed the world: specifically religion/spirituality and what community really is. A true masterpiece.

Farmers are getting hammered by Trump’s erratic policies. And before we jump straight to FAFO, listen to this Wisconsin farmer. I’m not even sure he was ever a Trump voter. His analysis of the situation is smarter than most of what’s coming out of DC right now.

Hunter Biden spending his whole day every day on Twitter being like "I'm not a pedophile, I was smoking crack with ADULT hookers at the Super 8 outside of Newark, you guys have pictures of all of it INCLUDING my hog from My Leaked Stolen Laptop™" is a masterstroke. Should've done this years ago.

Being a woman is struggling with fertility, being told you won’t have biological children, seeing other women announce their pregnancies, being angry sad frustrated spiteful, watching their updates a ball of nerves while holding your breath, and feeling immense joy to hear mama and baby are all good

Not enough people are talking about this.     The Trump Administration is moving to cut benefits for up to 400,000 disabled Americans — people with Down syndrome, severe autism, dementia — for no other reason than that they live at home with their families instead of in an institution.

I'm at the point in the book-writing process where I'm going over shit I wrote literally 25,000 words ago and am like "wow okay that's great info, let me right that down!" and then I remember that I actually did indeed write that down.

Booking hotels in NYC is crazy because is it a $400/night nice hotel with a decent wine list or is it a $400/night roach-infested nightmare shithole with bathrooms that haven't been updated since 2010?

The year is 1996. It's Christmas. You are 12 years old. And you get your first boom box and very first compact disc. That CD? New Edition "Home Again" Fast forward 30 (😵‍💫🙃🫨) years and, when you hear any of those songs randomly on Spotify, you will still know and sing every single word Life is good

Mamdani needs to have this team make movie poster-style subway ads with these quotes

Jared Holt@jaredlholt.bsky.social

Zohran Mamdani said he's going to start taxing rich people who buy luxury housing in NYC but don't actually live in there, and the former CEO of Twitter/X called it "actually one of the scariest things I have ever seen."

Imagine being so evil that you force a church that was spawned from straight-up hate of another church to join forces and call out how evil you are. Crazy work.

Just to give a sense of the insane scale of billions of dollars…MacKenzie Scott got about $38 billion after divorcing Bezos in 2019. She has become the world’s most generous philanthropist, giving away over $19 billion…and she’s currently wealthier than she started. Just. Tax. Them.
