MS NOW: "A congressional official with knowledge of the matter is telling MS NOW the cause of the shutdown of El Paso airspace is a lack of communication between the Pentagon and FAA. The official told us the FAA and DOD are 'not in clear communications with each other.'"

The INCOMPETENCE of this administration &the resulting chaos is constantly on display. I really hope that Congress will do something about it. I mean good lord, shutting down a large city’s commercial airport for 10 days is insane. But also grounding all life saving medevac flights is dangerous.

The trains didn't actually run on time under Mussolini. Among the many fascist lies a big one everybody seems to fall for is "at least they run a tight ship." They don't. They rely on intimidation, fear and demand loyalty. They have no skills.

They are trying to say the military was going to test anti-drone lasers. Except the military wouldn't test something like that in populated areas. They have many - many ranges, out in the middle of nowhere deserts, they test weapons at. They are still lying about this.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they closed the airspace because they were about to attack Mexico, claiming to be going after cartels.

Two people familiar with the discussions told CBS that the technology as a high-energy laser. A US official told Fox News that the military shot down a party balloon near El Paso after mistaking it for a foreign drone — an episode that contributed to the unexpected airspace closure.

"Communication is the problem to the answer".... Those lyrics from a Steely Dan song just popped up in the deep recesses of my mind...

With the Epstein files spiralling out of the Whitehouse's control, major moves to ban oil exports to Cuba and the international community cancelling flights to Cuba - led by Canada's WestJet, if I had to guess - the US is preparing a Venezuela type operation in Cuba.

Homeland security and Justice and this entire administration are wildly incompetent. It's just a matter of time before something really bad happens. Hopefully not as bad as 9/11.

Oh, now that's like saying a Private Equity has no interest in actually running the companies they buy. You know, when they fire the workers, sell the land and data, incur max debt to be extracted for themselves, and then walk away when it all collapses.

Remember when trump ended “woke” at the FAA and made flying safe again? bsky.app/profile/atru...

MS NOW: "A congressional official with knowledge of the matter is telling MS NOW the cause of the shutdown of El Paso airspace is a lack of communication between the Pentagon and FAA. The official told us the FAA and DOD are 'not in clear communications with each other.'"

So two agencies lead by a reality TV star and the alcoholic host of the weekend morning show on Fox are not capable of running agencies that communicate well with each other? Who would have thought that?

Well that is just ASTONISHING. Such coordination has for 40+ years been a bedrock function of US airspace management by CASD, the FAA-advisory MITRE FFRDC full of FAS and DoD alums which DOGE unceremoniously gutted and threw out of FAA last year. You reap what you sow...

Who's f*cking fault is this? Not the travelers in El Paso, not the American people that depend on the gov't agencies to communicate properly. This administration is a joke.....again.

🇨🇦🇺🇦Surprise, surprise- Sean Duffy strikes again. Between Duffy and Hegseth they weren’t even qualified to be Fox News anchors- What does that tell you? Donald Trump picks up scrap leftovers and this is the result.

I guess is that it’s gonna be used as a base for a preemptive strike against the cartels in Mexico …that’s a measure of the degree of my cynicism in paranoia about the current administration

I don't know much about aviation, but I don't think it's some kind of deadman's switch where everything shuts down when communication stops. Someone gave an explicit shutdown order.

In aviation there is indeed a "when in doubt, stop it" attitude for very well founded safety reasons. Deadman's switch that shuts everything down goes to far, but it often is: "when there is no explicit go-ahead, we stop until we get one"

Fair enough and I could have phrased that better. I'm assuming it's not "when im doubt, ten day shutdown." That's an explicit amount of time that sounds like a direct order rather than a timeout to communicate.

My guess would be something like: * FAA gets a notification of some DoD operation going for 10 days, that might interfere with safe operations of the airspace. * They ask for confirmation that the airspace is safe * They don't get it in time * They shut down the airspace for the duration by default

This is what I’d expect someone up high would say if a non security matter landed at their desk and they dropped a ball. Someone up high is needed to safe face. We’d know if it were a twerp with a drone or a real bomb threat.

Or they realized people were starting to pay attention and didn't want them nosing around as they deported the detainees they've been brutalizing to some hell-hole. It's as plausible as anything else. The FAA/DOD story is also plausible because the idiots are in charge now.

wwwwwwhy was the DoD in communication with the FAA about the airspace over El Paso at all?
