WHERE IS CONGRESS? Trump is waging an illegal war in Iran, and Americans are dying. Article I belongs to the People, not the President. Email, Fax or USPS Congress to demand an end to the strikes & immediate accountability: resist.bot/petitions/PA... 🚨🇺🇸 #WarPowers #NoWarWithIran #Impeach

Astounding that an American president was endowed with such an incredibly dishonoring ruling from the Supreme Court of all places. Given the makeup of repugs on the court it's no wonder the US is in crisis. MAGA is worthless and offers no value to the people in any manner

Three experts told Bellingcat the munitions appeared to be air delivered US-made Gator anti-tank mines. The US is the only participant in the Iran war known to possess Gator Scatterable Mines.

The Gator system are air delivered dispensers or cargo bombs that dispense mines over an area. These dispensers contain a mixture of either 94 or 60 BLU-92/B anti-personnel and BLU-91/B anti-vehicle mines depending on which dispenser is used.

Bellingcat geolocated some of the mines to the village of Kafari, Iran. This video shows at least three mines approximately two kilometres away from the entrance to what is reported to be Shiraz South Missile Base, an Iranian “missile city.”

Both BLU-91/B and BLU-92/B mines are activated two minutes after being deployed. However, these mines have self-destruct features meaning they may randomly explode hours or days after they were dispersed. They may also explode if disturbed. These features make them particularly dangerous.

Explanation- they said they are targeting mobile missle launching vehicles, to restrict their movement. Sloppy placement near the village? Not too surprising, at least not a girl's school this time.

Could also make a case that if the mine is not planted on a road but just scattered randomly across countryside the intended target is civilians not vehicles. Semantics are what courts are there to opine on.

In any case it has already killed people who picked them up. Hopefully Iran can get the message to people not to pick these up. Also, how sensitive are these? Do you have to drive over them to trigger them? Or just the rumble of a tank?

Only if they're anti-personnel mines, not anti-vehicle mines, would this violate the Ottawa treaty. The US is not a signatory since it would also require attempting to demine the Korean DMZ, but has doctrinally followed the treaty since inception & hasn't procured new anti-personnel mines in decades

I think any mine that is sensitive enough to be triggered by a person, rather than the weight of a vehicle driving over it IS designed to be anti-personnel. Let's argue this out at The Hague.

As usual America refused to sign on. The Mine Ban Treaty currently has 162 States Parties as of June 2015. However, the main mine-producing States refuse to adhere to the Treaty. These include the United States, the Russian Federation, China, India, and Pakistan.

𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒚 this has to be against every possible rule of engagement. Scattering mines in a village? WTF? You'd think they'd want to be more careful, given they've already blown up an entire school.
