I literally had to move away from my extended to family to a different part of the country as a child. My Friends dad went from being a steel shop Union leader to unemployed had a nervous breakdown and drank himself to death. Some of us didn’t have your privilege to avoid her policy’s.

I was child during the miners strike in Yorkshire, my dad had to move to support his young family. The area never recovered, I moved to the Northeast to see it repeated through nearly every industry sold to private capital, as your average working class family knew nothing about shares.

The Scottish were particularly aggrieved as Thatcher used them as guinea pigs for her very unpopular poll tax. Introducing it in 1989 a full year before imposing it on everyone else. Also their oil was effectively sold off as BP and Britoil were privatised.
