Come on down to the Council House for International Day of Birmingham, see the Re-Union Jack ♥️ #OneBrum Goldship have repurposed dozens of dirty & torn polyester flags removed from Birmingham's lamp posts to create a huge Union Jack, adorned with the names of people who have called Birmingham home

Includes some major Scottish cities waiting. The rest of the map is how I would divide England's regions for devolution. Including an enlarged London. I agree with the official regions in the North and SW but would radically change the Midlands and the SE to better represent how places interract.

The Kings Speech shows why Starmer must go. What a wasted opportunity! Where’s the urgent transformative programme to redistribute wealth, tackle the nature & climate crisis, bring water into public hands, & introduce rent controls & wealth taxes? No hope, no story, no vision

Our dependency on fossil fuels makes us vulnerable. Wars across the world are pushing up prices for households in the UK. Why keep waiting for the next crisis? We need to transition to clean power as fast as we can to protect people and our economy. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Good to see such a positive turn of events, I hope it works well for him, I really do! Also didn't know that Greater Manchester has a neuroinclusive code of practice, hopefully other regions will copy this. I'm university educated and autistic and work is so hard to get, it needs to change!

What a bunch of assholes Waitrose are! Next time benefits are attacked, this is what the disabled face trying work! He may have volunteered but clearly liked the routine, he needs to be paid. Obvious exploitation & discrimination from a multi billion pound company! www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...

mirror.co.ukAutistic volunteer 'sacked' after family asked if he could be paidTom Boyd, who has autism, was a volunteer at a Waitrose in Cheadle Hulme for four years but when his mum Frances asked if he could have paid work he was told he could not continue

Seems especially true with invisible disabilities. I used to be really good at masking my autism and was described as ‘higher functioning’ when I was diagnosed as a child. Now I have less tolerance of sensory issues(since Covid) & even family take issue. But I always struggled, I just hid it before!

I am fine until I am not and that cycle is exhausting. Whatever it is in the modern world environment just brings out the mental stress more. Sure there is more awareness now around neurodiversity but the built environment seems far more sensorily hostile than even 20 years ago.

god this reminds me of the day Theresa May's conference speech went wrong in about nine different ways, and there were people saying things like, "I don't know how you can feel so little sympathy you want to make jokes!" and the answer was "REALLY EASILY SORRY, I THINK MOCKING POWER IS A MORAL DUTY"

Cue the screams of "It's Labours fault for not giving us more money" while sweeping under the rug that they helped remove local government money over the years when wearing dark blue.

Something marvellous has happened in Hertfordshire but i bet the press won't mention it. I've now got a Green/Liberal Dem council, Liberal Dem/x county Council and Labour MP. 10 years ago this was a Tory stronghold. Please stop going on about Reform www.bbc.co.uk/news/electio...

People aren’t out of work because their ‘aspirations are low,’ MP Jo White. They’re out of work because they’re disabled. Because their communities have been starved of opportunity. Because vital resources like the NHS and social support have been gutted cementing disability.
