It was stamped with his name! A gift to the American people is something more symbolic or an enjoyable landmark or artwork to be viewed by the masses like the Statue of Liberty or the cherry trees (that he chopped down) or an animal at a national zoo. I agree he acts like a child but in this case?

The US Constitution says he can’t keep it, whether his name is on it or not. “…no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

Is she talking about this one? "On Nov. 4, 2025, a delegation of Swiss executives ... presented Trump with a 1-kilogram gold bar engraved with “45” and “47,” and a custom gold Rolex desk clock not sold commercially. " www.ms.now/news/trump-g...

ms.nowThe lavish gifts Trump has received from world leaders and CEOsThe president has received golden presents from foreign leaders, powerful corporate CEOs and interest groups who received perks and leniency from his administration.

Get ready for an investigation followed by consequences, Bern's top trade diplomat. Contrary to popular myth, intention is not that difficult to prove.

Two places that I know of—the first is the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution; the second is the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act (U.S.C. § 7342), which makes it a crime for a federal employee, inc. the president, to personally retain any gift over $525 in value.

Yes. All 350 million of us get one day with it, kinda like the winners of the Stanley Cup. I did OK in the lottery. I got Day 247,863,252, which means I'm going to be styling for one day 679,077 years from now.

I know this is a joke, but the exponential growth of delays in waiting for your turn with it as time passes and people are born (not to mention the logistics of transporting it) are a non euclidean nightmare and I love it.

Most likely, the typical delegation gift thing- i.e., a gift between nations, not a "here's something fancy for the President/Prime Minister". Sometimes, there is a small gift for the dignitary- but usually anything of note is state property (given to the nation), not personal property (individual).

Oh, indeed; and some of the gifts have definitely been more in the "this is for you, Mr. Trump"- something that didn't happen under previous admins... Like, I'd wager we'd STILL be hearing about "Rolex-Gate" if Obama accepted a Rolex from a foreign government.

LOL just admit you know how to play this shitty president…after the “gift” he took off your tariffs. So it worked. Just admit you played him to your advantage like every other government on the planet.

It's internal politics I think. Historically the Swiss have been quite liberal when it comes to bribes, but it might be illegal nowadays. Plausible deniability or something like that.
