I worked at MLO station off and on starting in 1978, through 2010. Measurements started here in 1957, and MLO CO2 record is the baseline. The calibration series for total ozone (ozone layer thickness) by ground based UV measurements is part of the history of this observatory. Words fail me.

GOP MAGA plan I guess to live in denial and ignorance by simply never talking about or acknowledging its existence, magically like Trump said it would go away like Covid. Oh that’s right, over a million people died after 45 said that , and we still have the virus mutations around. Idiotic logic 47!

Farewell early warning Keeling Curve, which is currently at 428 ppm. keelingcurve.ucsd.edu bsky.app/profile/bysc...

This is the same sort of anti-logical thinking that was backing the idea that tracking COVID positive tests was leading to more COVID. The idea that if you ignore or don't collect data you don't like it doesn't count & bad things don't happen.

There should be. But I fear there is none (and it would be too late anyway). It happens all the time (including to myself). Usually due to a lack of competence and appreciation on the side of the people who stop the funding. But this is probably the first time where it is due to pure malignity.

But the facility whose lease is being terminated is where eight staff members are based to maintain the Mauna Loa Observatory and send samples on to the Boulder lab.
