THEY DESERVE A HERO’S WELCOME 🇺🇸 A record 286 days at sea without a port call. Finally, relief in Thailand. The sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are scheduled to finally head home to the US on Sunday. When the Lincoln finally pulls into San Diego, I hope that waterfront is packed.

I’m so glad someone is saying this. Having liberal Bluesky acting like prisoners of war were released, all while making disgusting jokes about the sex workers of the island is just gross. I hope our sisters there stay safe and unharmed, but considering that’s the US Military we’re talking about…

When you think about all the things that could have gone wrong, and didn't, I credit the skill and dedication of the ship's crew. The Navy and Trump didn't support them enough, but they did a superb job.

I'm afraid Trump is merely going to send them right back into action after the ship is restocked. Why? Because a) to him everyone and everything is disposable, and b) he feels they were disrespectful little North Koreans by protesting against the conditions.

As a boy, I waited dockside twice as my old man's warship returned from 6-month deployments off the coast of Vietnam. They were emotional moments between the crew and their loved ones. The last thing we would have wanted then was to share our tears with a crowd of civilian looky-loos.

They will be remembered for playing a role in Trumps terror! It’s fked up they were stuck on the ship, but they didn’t refuse to follow their commanders illegal orders! They had a choice! The orange terrorists and his clan need the fullest punishment known to man! Period! #takeAmericaBack

How nice. Thailand is widely considered one of the primary global hubs for the commercial sex industry and sex tourism, particularly in Southeast Asia. Figures they’d be sent there by the dumpsters admin.

10 months in Saltwater. Generally the ship would have been put in dry dock and cleaned within that time frame. The ship took a beating, just like the crew.

Imagine the sheer psychological horror of realizing you’ve spent 286 days in a floating city where the only "new" scenery is a different shade of blue. That’s not a deployment; that’s a maritime social experiment.

What do Americans think should be done with these folks? Perhaps the lower ranks should be excused but they participated in an illegal war at the direction of a criminal occupying the Executive. We cannot have a lawless military.

You get 'em quick. I wobbled for sure when I got off on my first ever port visit, but that was the only time. And that was on a frigate, which gets flung around loads more than an aircraft carrier.

Their commander in chief feels they didn't suffer enough. Even if the war or some of the sorties were conducted illegally, I don't blame enlisted people who work in the engine rooms, or on aircraft maintenance, etc, for the fact that their ship was sent there for Epstein Distraction.

They didn't deserve to be sent there and I commend them for surviving without adequate resources but I am not grateful to them for following illegal orders

Ah, the delicious irony of Secretary Kegsbreath sending them to one of the centers for ladyboys in all of the world for some R & R before coming home is really something. #ProtectTheDolls

That boat looks worse than some boats that were destroyed to make reefs. No wonder nothing mechanical worked.Shouldn't be taken to sea until it's shiny again. Slap DonOld's name on in its current condition. He'll be down there super gluing gold doodads all over it.Will keep him busy for about 2 years

To give anybody any kind of hero status for participating in this soulless, military exercise is in a sense condoning it. No part of this was right. No part of this constituted defense of this country. It's a murderous oil grab. Treating them as heroes dehumanizes the people needlessly killed.

The military is a choice. Anybody that does so nowadays has to realize that they may have to get into another oil war and kill innocent people just to make corps richer. Nothing to do with the defense of this country. So do it for money and don't complain about how you are received when you get back

I'm just curious how people that are blowing up other people for no good reason are entitled to a hero's welcome? I would agree they deserve a hero's welcome if they had refused participation in Trump's meaningless military exercise. Even renamed, it's still supposed to be the department of defense

They deserve warm greetings and our love and support, but prosecuting an illegal war of choice against someone who poses no threat to our country doesn’t make them “heroic.” It makes them tragic pawns carelessly abused by a war criminal, NOT heroes.

They don't deserve a hero's welcome! What did they do? The turned circles in the ocean, launched a dirty sneak attack on Iran and killed civilians. They are not heroes.

appears like a rusted busted old aircraft carrier certainly not an Amerikan ship ... no our Navy would never allow that to happen ... uh oh and whoopsies ... did I ever get that wrong ... 🤨

Why? They are mercenaries! They are not defending the land and the people in it. When was the last time the US proper was invaded by a foreign power? They are defending the monetary interest of billionaires. The cult of the military might: "I too will have power if I am in there". Poor deluded

Do they? America will never progress as a nation if it keeps this ludicrous "thank you for your service" bullshit reverance to the military...the same military that bombed a school, a wedding, murders fishermen in the carribean, the only one to drop an atom bomb on civilians, Abu Ghraib, Napalm...

Yep...and of course America isnt a signatory to the international criminal court...funny that, dont ya think? The idea that someone who has served in the military deserves immediate, unqualified respect is just method of ensuring the populace continues to lick the boot of their oppressors...madness

8 year USMC vet here 85-93. I absolutely agree. Having said that, most of these squids are 18-25 years old. The majority of them had no idea what they were getting themselves into. I guarantee many of these kids go AWOL after their leave or permanently desert.

Also don’t forget this little factoid that the shitlib hero worshippers don’t like: Those guys are mostly red state maga trash. They were excited to purge their workplace of “deis” and got epically trounced worse than they did in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I dont even blame them, not really, they are mostly poor kids being sent overseas to do graft for the american colonial machine...look at the bases in the middle east, the US isnt even defending them. Hegseth is just the international view of american militarism made flesh...its all so pathetic.

I was in the Navy and did several 90 days out at sea and that was not very fun. So yes, they do deserve a hero's welcome when they get home, because the rank & file sailor probably had no idea what was being bombed. In conclusion... I'm not going to say what I want.

My grandfather was conscripted into the desert rats during the second World War, saw some terrible things, probably did some terrible things...he told me that war is the complete absence of humanity and saw no glory in it whatsoever. He would not have been pleased to have been thanked for it either.

Heroes would have taken a stand against this illegal war. The only thing they accomplished is surviving on a ship for months without adequate resources

How many of them will be taken to the camps by ice, unlike some chekoslovakian anchor kids currently running scams and stealing albanian land

The vast majority enlist in the military for a steady job with decent pay and money for school if they choose to pursue it. It is an economic decision based on the options available. I am not going to ask that they be welcomed as heros but please do not condemn them for the decisions of POTUS.

War criminals descending into Thailand. Nope, they don't deserve anything. They deserve empathy because it wasn't their choice but they still took part in murdering innocent people. BTW that ship is fucked up...

My dad,who was a naval aviator, packed up the family (6 children)when John McCain arrived,in San Diego, after he was released in Vietnam. In later years,I was his neighbor (Phoenix).I would run into him from time to time at the grocery store and at social events. He was a very nice man.Funny, af. AF.

dropping them in a notorious party city just screams of paying them off and collecting potential blackmail. These folks need to home, and need mental health care, not to dump alcohol on an already traumatized brain.

They followed illegal orders... But they didn't deserve the treatment they got from their sorry-ass command structure. Personally, if I had gone thru that and got off the boat you'd have a hard time getting me back on it. I'd do the CO paperwork immediately.

They don't deserve a hero's welcome they aren't heroes they're fucking soft-headed idiots who could have gone to college a different way. They didn't have to blindly follow corporate politicians and kill brown people just for shitty white people's bottom line. Not heroes. Scumbags.

Indeed, I hope everyone shows up to congratulate them for following war-crime orders, murdering women and children in an illegal war. Every day in the BlueSky-verse asking myself *when* the Americans on here will become self aware? I am exhausted.

A heroes welcome ? they voted for trump , enlisted and reenlisted under the pedo felon and the incompetent drunk and I speak from experience my father was a commander in the navy was on a carrier for 2 yrs , he spent 20yrs in the navy I spent 20yrs in the usaf and am a desert storm veteran

Of all the ports why there? To placate the crew. The prostitutes and their pimps, strip clubs, etc. are going to make a lot of money. They had damn well better test the crew for STDs before they reach San Diego.

Thailand has cracked down on the child sex tourism. When I was in Pattaya last it was still pretty crazy. Boys Town, Lady Boys, raunchy entertainment options and much older caucasian gentlemen escorting Thai girls in their 20s. That part was pretty creepy.

The US military's duty was to protect the people by deposing Trump (which would have occurred even in the bananiest of republics), not render themselves war criminals by following illegal orders to commit atrocities (see Nuremberg). Heroes deserve a heroes' welcome. War criminals sadly do not

My last WestPac, we were extended. When we hit Okinawa on our way home (finally), the partying in Naha was historic. When sailors "release" from a deployment, it's almost like super-pressure steam venting. Welcome home guys and gals. Glad you survived the bullshit you were subjected to.

This is what real courage looks like. See the toll on their faces, and the way they walk. Yeah this is what it looks like to be a real man of courage, strength, and integrity. No resemblance of the commander and chief.

The media coverage today is inescapable. The Pentagon is flogging this story like Secretariat in the homestretch. The Takeaway: Keep service members at sea nearly a year without a portcall in conditions so bad some jump ship to swim away, then send them to a city of whorehouses and all's forgiven.

To give anybody any kind of hero status for participating in this soulless military exercise is in a sense condoning it. No part of this was right. No part of this constituted defense of this country. It's a murderous oil grab. Treating them as heroes dehumanizes the people needlessly killed.
