Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to tax gas? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to build public housing? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to end AUKUS? Greens are happy to be constructive about things that materially benefit the public. We are not a rubber stamp.

Exactly David.. Always expecting preferences from the Greens to get elected then saying 'won't work with Greens' ALP have had it too good for too long... Some brilliant ALP MPs and too many others who have turned sharp right and fallen off the cliff into the 1% dismal abyss 🙌

Negotiating with the Libs to get legislation passed is ideal because they usually eventually form Government. The longevity of said legislation is then likely to remain, otherwise as has been seen as the first climate policy and others, LNP repealed it

The duopoly is a capitalist scam to fool the voting public into thinking they have a democracy, while still giving capital everything it wants. I want the Greens to end this scam.

you're really saying that if they went for policy ~20% more ambitious in their first term, a coalition government in what, 2028 at best would reverse everything? gas taxes, refunded? housing demolished? this is very silly

They aren't negotiating with the libs, they have the same aims, they are effectively the same people. The duopoly never loses, it is a con, it is not democracy. They know they will be voted out, and voted back in, they are playing the long game, and they are playing Australians.

So glad to see the direction you are taking and how vocal you have been on important issues. Feel hope that the Greens can bring important change for the community. Happy if you go even harder on what the 1% uber wealthy are doing to our politics and to shape terrible policies.

I’m sure Tuvalu will be happy that their island is underwater and they’re the first culture to suffer climate change genocide, just as long as Australia is maximally profiting from it. Great start to your leadership. Hitting all the notes.

The first rule of the ALP is to never validate the greens as that would make people realise the extent to which Labor has become the party of establishment. (LNP is now far right and ON is chaos). The Greens are the only organised progressive voice in this country.

So the Greens campaign relentlessly against Labor and focus almost all their efforts on winning Labor seats, lose, and then expect Labor to treat the Greens as a governing partner rather than part of the opposition. That seems delusional to me.

Seems you are already there 🎯 Read the post It is about working collaboratively on improving housing, climate and policy that the ALP stood firmly on when elected The real question is why are some of you now backing poor policy ? 🎯

I still don’t understand why you think the greens have a role here. Labor won the election. They are going to implement the policies they ran on and won, not the policies the Greens ran on and lost. What am I missing?

Did @australianlabor.bsky.social run on being best friends with pedophile trump and genocidal netanyahu? Did they run on green lighting every fossil fuel project that comes their way? Did they run on being puppets for the zionists? Did they run on the usa turning us into a nuclear weapons base?

Doesn't mean they are socially beneficial policies. Or well designed. If another party points out the flaws in those policies, Labor can't whinge, whine & pout. A bit of reflection & hubris would do wonders for Labor. Shame their Green Grudge gets in the way.

What you’re missing is that the ALP only won that election, AND got its massive increased majority, off the preferences of Greens voters. Look at the ALP’s shrinking primary vote without them. The only mandate the ALP had was to be more progressive, more bold, instead they did the opposite.

They did not run on approving more fossil fuel led projects, yet they do this. They did not run on appointing a Special Envoy for Israel, yet they have done this. They have not implemented their public education policies that they ran on. Do I need to continue the list?

Labor failures -COVID -NACC(&Robodebt) -AUKUS -Transparency/accountability -Whistleblowerprotection -Gaza/Iran -Gamblingreform -Climatechange -Media -Consultancies -Environment/waste -Housing -CSIRO -Matesjobs -Politiciansexpenses -Electoral laws -Publiceducation -Socialcohesion -CFMEU -gas tax

A party sitting on 27.2% which expects the Greens to rubber stamp proposed legislation in the Senate, which Labor hasn’t controlled for two decades? The biggest lie told by Labor - believed by gullible party faithful - for those two decades is that the Greens haven’t tried to work constructively

I see what you did there mr slick talking lawyer guy. How about the Greens work with the government to come to a mutually beneficial solution, instead of trying to pontificate from your 1 seat pulpit? Or does the same born to rule blood the Greens share with the Liberal party be make it impossible

Are you suggesting the government shouldn't be held to account when making poor policy decisions they once campaigned against ? Cos that's all is happening here... No more rubber stamping or expecting HoR preferences at election time from Greens then... 🎯

Ooh he used to be a lawyer. Like 20% of the Labor party? How about the Greens don’t burn their principles and move to the right chasing a compromise that ultimately benefits a party that supports genocide and big money interests over what’s best for the majority of Australians?

Australian democracy needs a Green leader who can break through the 15% barrier. David could do that . A combined independents and Greens majority is needed to replace our fossilised political duopoly who refuse to act in the best interests of all Australians

Apparently “constructive” means:
Labor proposes it.
 Greens applaud politely.
 Gas giants keep the profits.
#AUKUSWillFukUs keeps the billions.
And everyone struggling with housing gets another press release. 🙃 Cooperation isn’t a rubber stamp.

I'm so glad to see you as Greens leader David, Labor are having conniptions, because you are showing them to be hypocrites, with no interest in the environment, housing, or the wellbeing of people in this country. Corporate lapdogs and seppo suckholes is what Labor are, they need replacing.

We have valuable fuel trading partners like Japan in a fuel crisis. Now is not the time to put a tax on trading partners. Labor is smart enough to ignore the Greens rantings on AUKUS and most other things. Labor is already building public housing. See you lot don't have to run a country.Radical crap

Murray Watt is the human rubber stamp for the fossil fuel industry. Murray has stamped his approval on more coal and gas projects than anyone.

Maybe Labor are the government and negotiate to get support but let's face it the Greens are a minor party that thinks that it knows more than everyone else. Government isn't simple, it's complex and requires considered legal and intricate detail to form policy then legislation, not sideline ranting

There is nothing complex or nuanced about Labor’s approach to government. Always acting in the interests of your donors and lobbyists and never acting in the public interest is actually surprisingly straight forward. A trained baboon could do it.

Purely from a factual science evidence based decision making, the ALP have proven themselves anti-environment and climate change sceptics.

Labor were once ( a long time ago) on the left side of politics. Not now. Now the Greens show us just how far Labor have moved to the right.

Do you have some special access to the truth?! Will you, Scooby-Doo-style, pull off the mask from 'false Labor' to reveal it was really old-man conservative all along? Bullshit derived from crap premises. This is the true ALP, the white Australia policy one from the past, and the same one now.
