That's good, but will be a long hard slog. Another tact they should be talking which is likely quicker is Article III of the Consitution requires "good behavior" of judges. Just define corruption and grifting as "bad Behavior" and throw the SCOTUS MAGAt 6 the fuck off of SCOTUS. All 6 are corrupt

Retroactively, I hope. While they're at it, how about some strict, mandatory conflict of interest rules? With criminal penalties and mandated expulsion from the court.

If the Republicans jump on that and rush it through, forcing Republicans justices to retire, Thiel & Co will ensure they’ll be immediately replaced with worse. Timing is key.

If Republicans flip two more state legislatures, they'll have the 38 required to rewrite the Constitution *without the consent of Congress.* The Founders only wanted the presumed minority of Sensible Statesmen in charge, failing to consider a Stupid Minority could also take charge.

I have been informed that I'm using an old number. The current official count: 28 Republican controlled state legislatures, but several previously virulently Republican legislatures claim to be "nonpartisan," and I don't believe them. Alaska as nonpartisan? 🤦‍♂️ info.legistorm.com/blog/how-man...

Bernie Sanders turned 75 in 2016. With age limits at 75 he would have not been there the entirety of the Trump Presidency. Cognitive tests where the results aren't controlled by the testee are the answer. At 85 Sanders is doing better than Trump at 76.

And real cognitive tests. The post concussion test Trump keeps talking about, his "cognitive test" with the three animals, is just to determine if you can still think, not your ability to think about more complex topics.

Good. Sanders should've retired a long time ago. As should the rest of the ancients ruling us. Feinstein was drooling in her wheelchair. Thurmond and Byrd were barely coherent when they died in office. Upper age limits are necessary to override politicians' egos.

I simply don't agree that we need to get rid of people who are going strong at 75. Cognitive testing rules out people for the one good reason to rule them out of public office. It'll catch the stupid 30 year olds too. Obviously Feinstein in her wheelchair was not going strong at 75.

I've always thought that "NO ONE" should have a job for life. Knowing that you won't be fired could eventually lead to feelings of omnipotence. In fact, I sense that feeling in a few of the Supreme Court justices.

I know that. The Constitution says the all judges "shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour." All the shit they're doing is bad behavior. Impeachment is the only way to remove them.

Abort the court. Murica never was a democracy; just a republic of crony capitalist criminals. Abort the court; let the highest court be a public case with national democracy deciding the verdict.

Yes, despite the amendment requirement, Dems need to start getting people used to these ideas. Also expanding the circuit and supreme courts, abolishing the electoral college, etc. The debates help the oligarchs tip their hand and educated the electorate (vs bs rethuglican culture war headlines)

What are you talking about? The current 119th Congress session started on January 3, 2025, and ends on January 3, 2027. There's time actually to do their jobs. So far, they've abdicated power to fascists and proved they're feckless cowards and worthless to those of us who aren't big donors.

Alternatively, let federal judges vote of their own to put on SCOTUS or a randomized process and just cycle some out every 2 or 3 years. Just keep them constantly churning and as far from partisan nominations as possible.

Until we gain back both the house and Senate, this has no chance of passing. We must turn out in massive numbers to thwart the gerrymandering and cheating and vote out every Republican.

Cool. Have Johnny add in there that SCOTUS members should be voted on by the country, not appointed by a dumbass Presidential puppet. While we are at it, make sure there is no grandfathering law either. Everyone currently on the court that has served 18+ years needs to start packing.

Our Founders were terrified that a majority would overtun their cool system, so they put in minority rule by the presumed minority of Intelligent Sendible Statesmen: the Senate and the Electoral College, and lifetime SCOTUS to keep the status quo going. The GOP is using the baked in minority rule.

President Ulysses Grant shepherded reforms through Congress to try and change the country away from a racist country. The SCOTUS of his time, still full of justices appointed under pro-slavery governments, overturned all of them. This ushered in Jim Crow.

Among other things, our founders also approved slavery and that women weren't allowed to vote. Shit changes. Our Congress is corrupt. The President, who has no regard for the Constitution, is enabled by the corrupt Congress, who helped put this SCOTUS in place. Time to make some new guardrails.

Banish the Supreme Court, states should rule their own people. Nine people, should not be telling you what to do with your life.

There seems to be no checks and balances on SCOTUS. They are not elected. It's impossible to impeach with the impeachment rules being too out of wack to work. When SCOTUS is making themselves rule over Congress, and the executive branch, it's just out of control.

Wrong tact. Limit its jurisdiction. Limit certiorari. Cut funding significantly. Congress can check the judiciary despite what that a**hole Alito says.

Why Racism is Not a Crime in the USA? Racism is a criminal offense in several countries, with Brazil having one of the strictest,non-bailable anti-racism laws (Law No. 7.716/1989).Australia, Canada,Sweden, and various EU members, have laws criminalizing hate speech, racial discrimination, and harassment.

Article 3 of the Constitution specifies that justices “hold their offices during good behavior,” meaning for life. The Constitution can only be changed with consent of 2/3rds of the House and Senate and 3/4ths of the legislatures of the states, or a Constitutional convention of states.

All justices should face term limits. When they started the SC, people didn’t live as long. They also need to have someone appointed within 3 months so we do that we anymore McConnell BS!

Thank you- as of May 2026, new legislation and proposed constitutional amendments, such as the ROBE Act and the Supreme Court Term Limits and Regular Appointments Act of 2025, have been introduced to establish 18-year term limits for Supreme Court Justices.

It's a nice gesture, but 38 state legislatures of the 50 we have would need to ratify it. The Republican Party controls 36 of the 50, and put the conservative majority into the SCOTUS. It's a nice idea, but the people who would lose the most from this Amendment would have to approve it.

I have been informed that I'm using an old number, and only 28 legislatures are controlled by Republicans. A bunch claim to be nonpartisan, but they're all in states which have been heavily in favor of Republican ideals, so I don't quite believe them. info.legistorm.com/blog/how-man...

So its not going to pass.. let alone be ratified. Right now the gop wont support it and you need 67% of both houses. And trump wont sign it. While nice this aint goning anywhere
