When the AI bubble pops people will try and do the “how could we have known?” And the answer is “if you thought about the economics of generative AI or actually talked to people using it.” Everything I report is public. I am a dumbass. I have listened to the same metal song 8 times in a row tonight.

The real magic trick isn't the AI; it's convincing VCs that burning a small country's GDP on GPUs to generate "cat in a spacesuit" images is a sustainable business model. We’re just automating the hallucination of profit.

(ridiculously paid dickhead keynote speaker at an AI industry conference voice): “Remember when Apple forced that U2 album onto everyone’s phones, & everyone hated it and was pissed and the album went on to become basically U2’s worst selling album of all time? What if that - but for *EVERYTHING*…”

"How could we have known?" I knew the whole time, I've been yelling about it the whole time, if u bought GenAI up in any way that wasn't negative, I told you We've been telling you cuz we knew It stole our art, didn't hide what it did, & we all knew

It’s crazy when you talk with people who breath LLM even in software engineering. Like I’ve used it and it’s helpful for some things. It’s not magic the way people treat it. I haven’t come across an AGI brained person though. Bubble popping will be interesting.

I just want to love the cool things tech can do Ed, and instead it keeps doing the least cool things. I would like it to stop making me mad and frustrated as it's used by grifters as a hype vehicle for investment pitches. Also it keeps breaking people's brains.

Twenty years ago, some economists were writing vividly about the subprime mortgage crisis that they could see coming. At the time, most of the response was to point and laugh. And we know what happened after that - the financial sector was reformed to make sure it wouldn't happen again... oh, wait.

I guess that, if the AI bubble pops, it will not be perceived as an AI bubble but more of a Tech bubble when investments in many other tech projects (robotics, aerospace, and basically all the domains that Musk has touched) start to dry out...

these companies are a cult I tried to explain the economics of the app store with data and nobody pays attention to this at all no matter how much you explain it because it seems absurd even if you got charts.
