Busy week. Trying to fit in some demos from NextFest before it's over, plus on Sunday we got the Lil Guys trying to 100% Big Walk with the gang! This week is my DEBUT ANNIVERSARY so get ready for karaoke and a chill (maybe unarchived) Halloween hangout with me!

I looked at this top drama for half a second and it's just incoherent AI slop that goes on for hours and hours and hours of pretty people yelling at each other in cliche dialog ways. Are actual humans watching this?!

ReelShort's 'The Triplets' Final Regret,' a vampire soap opera, hits No. 1 for the third time as the most-watched microdrama across paid platforms, per Owl & Co.'s latest Vertical Index snapshot. Full charts: bit.ly/4BqzZzV

So I went to Yankee Candle this weekend to buy candles as you do and why is their Yeti mascot the same exact guy as Meta's AI guy

I have a theory that all "Great Men" of history can be sorted into either "and the device shows me boobs?" or "the moon in the fucking sky?" Lenin, Trotsky, Adam Smith, and George Washington are all "went to the moon?" Ben Franklin, Hamilton, Socrates, and Bakunin are instances of "shows me boobs?"

how all of these conversations would actually go

as i have taken to formulating it, our current relationship with fiction and especially science fiction is totally absurd and rhetorically often takes the form of saying something along the lines of "we've invented yellow bricks, but WHY don't we have flying monkeys?"

michael lutz@ztul.bsky.social

it happens that i've been thinking about this for other reasons lately and will voice some of it on a podcast soon but it is REALLY interesting how fiction was historically disparaged for being untrue and misleading but has now warped into a reservoir of "possibilities to which I can feel entitled"

is there a way that I can be sufficiently crass so they just never see ads in the first place?

Twitch Sponsorship AI "Campaign Assist" is now fully implemented and will warn you in the Activity Feed if you mention things like Explicit Language, Alcohol, Drugs, politics, and other issues when doing Twitch's low-paying sponsorships.

Character.AI was one of those start ups that would get pointed to as "the future of gaming" and proof of "demand for interactive NPCs" If you actually visited it it was largely full of IP infringing sex bots...

Probably in middle school because I was always drafting fantasy novels already and then I discovered fanfic and the internet and could meet other weird people

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

I'd better be able to hear a lecture some day by the narrative designer/team on Dressmaker because I need to understand their magic juice. It's very strong

There's something very special about the NPC personalities in this game. Everyone who goes in wanting to shitpost ends up starting to sincerely care about these characters and wanting to do a good job for at least some of them

It's maddening, because the curator system is actually really good when used properly. If you follow a curator their recommendations will start showing up on your homepage, and it's an excellent way to get some hand picked suggestions over algorithmic ones, but Valve lets it fester with bad actors.

headfallsoff@headfallsoff.com

i see why steam tries very very hard to hide the curator system from everyone because it gives a direct, horrifying look at the demographics actively using steam's community features

What can you say? This was the definite winner they will never top. Also one of the best things I've seen at any PRGE #PRGE #PRGE2026
