Per Reuters, Anthropic has $252 billion in non-cancelable compute obligations across Microsoft, Google and Amazon, and $161.2 billion in Broadcom TPU lease obligations that are "largely non-cancelable". Truly insane. $413 billion in non-cancelable contracts. www.reuters.com/business/ant...

When you owe the bank $1000 and you can't pay you have a problem. When you owe the bank $400B and you can't pay, the bank has a problem. (well the creditor, does)

How are they going to weasel their way out of this one? It always seems like these clowns find a way out of every situation that would destroy a normal business and I expect nothing less from this.

If I understand correctly, the issue now isn’t just revenue, it’s that anthropic has essentially committed to guaranteed minimum ~$40 billion a year in compute costs regardless of how efficient their models are or how much demand they get?

what does non-cancelable mean in this context? like, if the company folds, they get a share of their assets as compensation?

In 10 years the technologies, use cases, and customer base will be unrecognizable. For investor's sakes they better hope that someone at Anthropic really is a space alien with a time machine.
