CSS-Tricks has a new owner!
Yes, I've got the keys to the castle, so to speak. And, even after 12 years of working on the site, I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed and nervous about that.

Many devs are frustrated with management enforcing AI at work, especially when they're required to use it all the time.
In a recent video I encouraged people to talk with their managers as much as they can about this, but the issue, at least in some places, is the mandate comes from the very top...
you can't be serious.
This reads Meta/Facebook/Insta is looking to grant itself the rights to scrape websites across the open web - and train Meta's AI - if a company after Oct 30, 2026 uses Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or other Meta services. So every biz.
Read that again. Outrageous. 1/5
You might not be a professional with a design title - but when you're forced to think about the thing you're making, you're at least doing what designers do.
AI didn't "democratize" design. It took away the very thing that could make everyone designers, because it made that thinking optional.
The Society of Authors has withdrawn from the ill-conceived concession to the dark side that was the "ethical GenAI" charter because of the mass and vocal outrage of authors.
Publishers need to be made afraid of this level of anger too.
With `alpha()` we now have three ways to lower the opacity of a color in CSS.
The nice thing with alpha (besides being super easy and probably easier to read) is that it keeps the colour space the same.
I took a look at it here if you want more info on it: youtu.be/Pfj9OmvqU0Q
More range sliders with fancy shapes? Let's go! This time with a tooltip showing the value.

css-tip.com/wiggly-range...
Another funny demo powered by border-shape, scroll-driven animations, and more
The HTML code? Only an input element (no extra code is needed)
You guys, if we focus on building faster and faster cars it's inevitable we will soon have Faster-than-Light travel.
To ensure humanity can travel the stars within our lifetime (thus solving all of our problems), we need to pool all our money and resources into Ferrari™ S.p.A.
One must ask which is more likely: that we have developed genuine, self-aware machine intelligence, or that a piece of text generation software that's been hand-tuned for thousands of hours to portray an intelligent conversationalist is affectively effective on a large number of people?
just a reminder:
an llm can’t “distinguish between itself
and its environment”
an llm can’t hold a conversation either.
100% of that capability is provided by very simple software that sits between you & the llm, & feeds all that context to the LLM’s API
i did a very easy-to-read thread on this
Character.ai’s bankruptcy is the one of the first dominos to fall in the long-foreseen AI bubble.

“…the company is cutting iPhone 18 Pro component orders due to weaker-than-expected demand. October orders were reportedly reduced by at least 15%, with higher memory costs and $100 price increases weighing on demand.”
