Imagine ordering turd from a restaurant menu and when they bring out a massive stinking shit on a plate, hold it right up to your nose and ask if you want to change your order, you say, no it's fine I want the turd, thanks.

#ChrisMason & #LauraKuenssberg will present this as a stunning victory for #Farage, a vindication of all of #ReformUK policies and confirmation that he’s our next #PrimeMinister. Despite the nationwide opinion polls. #Clacton #ClactonOnSea #ClactonByelection #Essex

This doesn't include abstention, which will presumably be high. If as these numbers suggest Farage has dramatically increased the number of people voting for him then that's pretty bleak.

Cool. Can't imagine why people in Clacton would be driven to the only politician saying their concerns are valid, and not the smug cunts full of disdain for them. A real mystery.

Depends what it is 73% of, surely? At the GE he got around or just over 50% against the usual parties. Here he is against a bin and a massive field of crank candidates and you would expect turnout to be well down across the board. So 73% looks impressive but could be on far fewer overall votes

I was thinking this myself. It's not a GE (obvs) He's been proven to be an absent MP Confidence in him winning may = complacency Middle of school holidays, lower attendance Emerged sleaze may put people off/encourage protest voting Crank candidates also running/no mainstream parties.

Total votes last time was 45,958, meaning a turn out of around 58.7%. Farage got 21,225 votes. Key here is this time round how many vote and how many he gets (ie whether below that figure or higher). Opposition parties combined got about 22,000 votes: electionresults.parliament.uk/elections/3392

Not at all. There’s no other serious candidates and it’s somewhere he got ~50% in general election. Only way this is actually impressive for him is if he gets that and turnout is higher than the general election

Let's put this in context. 73% v his original 46.2%+ Tory 27.9%. That is a drop of 1%. Lab 16.2%, LD 4.4, Green 4.2, others 0.1. =24.9 So Lab/LD/Green Binface. The Tories are 🐔 He got 21,225 votes last time. Lets see. The significant drop in votes could be a notable indicator.

God bless those in the replies and quotes who honestly think a comedy candidate has a hope of actually winning. If Binface actually gets 20% it will be the most extraordinary thing to happen in a parliamentary by-election ever

Lewis probably could. Realistically if you want to beat Farage you need to be an 'independent conservative' on the edge of politics and have a decent profile. Look up Martin Bell at the 1997 General Election in Tatton Polanski, or anyone standing for a left-of-centre party, wouldn't stand a chance
