Back in the day, I spent so much time in the library that people started to think I actually worked there and I ended up helping them find what they were looking for. I considered becoming a librarian, but I couldn't afford to go to school to get a degree required for the job.

If you have a hard time reading, NLS/BARD will send you free audiobooks you can download with their app or they will send you a player (no postage). Just call your library, request a form, and have a medical professional sign it once. It literally saved my life and sanity when I was bedridden.

As a University Librarian my job is not with print books anymore. All online. But the availability of information online allows fake news and disinformation to be spread more easily. The International Federation of Library Association and Institutions has this really useful guide ...

Let us hope #Librarians #Historians #Resisters are preserving hard copies for the future. The digital world of books can disappear on the #Whim of a dictator w unlimited executive immunity for official acts. Time to #BackUp the digital world. #Preserve the hard-copy of history/science/literature.

Yeah I was coming here to say this. Sergeant majors. At the frontlines, but experienced and battle-worn, having seen hundreds or thousands of engagements personally. And they don't have a lot of influence on the larger policy.

And they’re fighting an uphill losing battle because most kids today can’t tell the meaning of library? Let alone where one might be without google? I think we might want to start on an Ark soon God just may have Noah do a second 🏃 run for your life!!

I recently worked with a school librarian who quit her job to home school because she didn’t want her kid to get any more vaccines. The kid has autism and she believes that the vaccines caused it. I don’t understand the logic there. Did she think a booster would make it worse?

Then say it... With a limerick! There once was a librarian from Nantucket. He couldn't shovel the shit with a bucket. So, he took the streets for more than a week Crowdfunding for children's books and a ham sam'ich.

Apparently, the old English term for library was ‘bochord’ or BookHoard, with someone, somewhere on the internet concluding (ie this isn’t my suggestion) that the original librarians were probably dragons. Take that, book-burners!

‘Idiot’ comes from the Greek ‘idiotes’, used to describe private people who didn’t become involved in public life (from ‘Equality: the history of an elusive idea, McMahon, 2024). How things have changed 😁

When you have a society where sports players, celebs & influencers make tons more money than the people trying to educate the future generations, what could go wrong?

I LOVE THIS! However I am sad to say (or report) that I was at a library the day before the election and I was told by a librarian, who must have believed my age whiteness indicated like-mindedness, "I sure hope he wins tomorrow..." Astonished all I was able to say was "But you're a librarian...?"
