It does seem like a problem that these tools depend on humans to create new information that they can regurgitate and that they’re creating the economic conditions that will make those people even rarer than they already are

I do think some people really are weirdly ignoring the whole “LLMs can’t go out into the world and collect information that a human hasn’t already recorded and put on the internet” thing

The people who use LLMs for travel planning are already running into this in that those LLMs can only exploit info a human has ready put into an accessible online system, and travel information is inherently constantly volatile and shifting

And currently LLMs seem to be depending on travel bloggers and online reviews but as they’re already killing travel bloggers businesses and I suspect that online reviews are declining rapidly…

I have not used AI travel agents, but I do struggle from the travel planning version of writer's block. I am terrible about planning ahead and often book hotels the night before for major trips. I can see a text based feedback prompt helping with "writer's block"

Especially for travel to places that are generally fine but can get scary fast. I do a lot of work in Kingston, Jamaica which is a great city and so much fun, but whoa buddy I would not take advice from an LLM about where to go.
