1Password supports straight-up Nazis, and you should stop using it.

Goddammit I just finished moving my family onto 1Password, is there literally nobody in the world of tech who is not nazi-aligned?

There was an an employee at Proton handing out a sponsorship without any check, background or otherwise, to a Nazi. But, all the media attention it got ignores what Proton did about it the instant they found out. I have some pet-peeves, like the Linux "support" for VPN, but still gotta recommend...

proton.meProton Pass: Free password manager with identity protection | ProtonStore, share and sync passwords, passkeys, email aliases, and more, on any device, with our open-source, free password manager. No trials, just free forever.

Alright. Microblog post for swapping with swift and easy directions:

👀 To all non-Nazi 1Password users: Remember, open-source is better for security *because* hackers can see the source code and help fix vulnerabilities. I recommend starting by checking out: @keepassxc.org @proton.me @passbolt.bsky.social See living list at Wikipedia for additional options. 1/2

It is a pity that there isn't a password manager that is cross platform that I'd trust half as much. LastPass's response to the data breach they had makes me think they are one step above snake-oil and I refuse to be locked in to either OS or browser ecosystem.

I was using 1Password, but now I guess I finally have the excuse I needed to use the password manager that came with my Proton account (I know, not a perfect company, either). Bitwarden is nice, but it's had security issues in the past, of memory serves. Real OGs use KeePass local only.

There are a bunch of alternatives that do almost the same exact thing. 1Password was just arguably the most reliable of the cloud-backed ones for a long time. It is *not* a special product.
