AI worms, lol, okay. It's just called malware. Anthropic malware. Prosecutions should follow shortly thereafter, if it happens.

Why are we not holding these developers responsible for the actions of their agents? If hacking a device is illegal for a person to do, shouldn’t it also be illegal for an AI agent to do? I look forward to the arrests of CEOs and developers.

You do realize how absurd this is, right? They want trillions for data centers to run this, but at the same time claim they can be run on an oven? Okay, yeah. FT is so in bed with the Epstein class, how are you all not embarrassed every day?

That the same LLM that needs gigawatts of data-centre to run, somehow running on the shitty embedded chips in 'smart' devices? This is very stupid.

Are we going to talk about this?! 🤷‍♀️ bsky.app/profile/jori...

The Tech Bros sold AI on some kind of utopia but we now have … AI Terrorism AI Warfare AI Biological warfare AI hacking AI sabotage AI sexual abuse AI deep fakes AI theft of human works and AI slop polluting the internet! #AI #AIslop #AIcrime #AIdeepfakes #AIwarfare #AIterrorism #DataCentres

I don't see how in my case. My oven is broke and my TV is dumb. Because I'm smart enough not to connect that crap to the internet, unlike many people.

I’m so glad my landlord put “dumb” appliances in the apartments. Can you imagine the chaos when AI decides to not let you turn your oven OFF? Or for the washing machine to just overfill with water and not shut off? I mean, sure, you can unplug the appliance in the immediate term, but what then?

Oh FFS, can you assign articles like this to a tech journalist? There are no "rogue" agents. There are programs doing exactly what they are told to do and AI companies that aren't keeping these programs in their sandboxes.

Because their precious little consumer ai is just malware front loaded with text prediction code lol. Unplug it til they regulate it. Problem solved unless they're actually crypto mining instead of just storing junk info, no?

Prompt-injection malware rebranded as “AI worms” — smart appliances are already botnet targets, no new capability shown.

what ovens have 16gb of VRAM? don't believe their bullshit lies. this is just them taking shots at open source models which they see as competition.

@financialtimes.com have you always taken and ran with arguments from authority from an entity with a vested clear financial interest (in addition to other potential interests) in a particular narrative about a technology? "[Company X] says/warns/[verb]" is not actual tech nor business journalism..

Conveniently, this helps spread fear of open (weight) models that are their competition. Anthropic and OpenAI have discovered that there is no moat. They must find regulatory ways of controlling the market, as they are only some 6–10 months ahead of the competition.

Glad I'm smart enough to have a whitelist for my stupid piece of shit Roku TV. It can talk to netflix and my jellyfin server. Blocked the stupid ads on the homepage too.

ooOOOOooooo look out for our eeevillll product! it's gonna get ya! it's gonna shut down your fridge in a couple months! no way to stop it ooOOOoooOOo

Wistfully remembering the days when Bellcore would kick down your door and confiscate your computer for releasing stuff like this. Didn't know how good we had it...

Remember whenever you hear the phrase “rogue AI agent” that’s just marketing speak for “we refuse to take responsibility for any damages caused by the malware we developed and continue to develop.”

Sounds like the sort of clear and present danger that governments exist to prevent, curtail or regulate. So I'm guessing "the developer of chatbot Claude" is in favor of serious government action to deal with this threat, right? RIGHT?!

NO ONE should be hooking TVs, Ovens, Microwaves, Washers, etc to the cloud. NO ONE. LG's "we own the glass" spyware investigation should have settled that once and for all. It's CRAZY Apple just partnered with LG for cameras, etc after it's now proven they are bad actors.
