Now presenting: THE shot I've been dreaming of glitching ever since I learned you could circuit bend a playstation PS1 bent by gork_online, generously loaned to me for the time being

heh, i went sort of the opposite route - it was one of the first games i tried on my SD card modded PS1 when the english translation came out. blew my mind that you could run a patched game on original hardware, letalone one never released in the US

it's wild to me that there was an era where I sold all my retro stuff because "I can just emulate it all anyway" and now my entire life revolves around reviving old hardware and making it do things it was never intended to

as far as i understand it these are all GPU bends. game logic remains stable even when framerates drop to near zero due to the amount of polygons getting thrashed. a surprising amount of games let you bend and un-bend them without having to reset the console

guessing, because seems related to how it fills polys... maybe adding noise to the path where textures are requested or read? not sure, I don't know a lot about PSX hardware, but it is super cool to see it do its thing

depends on how the wires are crossed, either data is getting shuffled around or the textures are getting pulled from the wrong place/wrong coordinates

there's not much public documentation out there right now unfortunately. I don't know what gork's plans are once her designs are finalized but PS1s have been bent by a rare handful of circuit benders. different models also have different tolerances for glitches/mods too
