I did it, but there wasn’t a good way to express that I’m unhappy for you all with touching and then trying to hide AI integration, see this tweet (that wasn’t posted on bluesky because yall knew you’d get it)

But it was just a radio button. I’m completely fine with any corporate sponsorships that uphold the community values. There might be people who are flat out not okay with any corporate sponsorships. The radio button reflects their opinions but not mine.

It's better for the foundation to have more sponsors and not less. More sponsors means more money for the foundation, while being less reliant on any individual sponsors. This gives the foundation more independence and not less. You don't have to support individual sponsors at all.

yeah it's extremely funny that they did a catchall "corporations" option and not "Gambling Company" or "AI Company" or something more granular that people would absolutely say Fuck No to.

But as I said to someone else here, more sponsors is better then less and means the foundation is less reliant on individual sponsors which ultimately means more independence, not less. If you start seeing the sponsors creep into the tools themselves then we deffo have a problem.

There's many things people can have objections to, like what if Microsoft decided to sponsor? Plenty of folks have legitimate concerns there and they're an AI company, but a lot of Godot is built on Microsoft tech. It would be worth an entire separate survey to decide what is and isn't okay.

I think the problem being expressed is that not all corporate sponsorships are equal. There is a tier of company that's like [AI, cryptocurrency, gambling] that will produce a very different response from *this community*, Godot's community, than IDK UbiSoft or EA (even if we don't much *like* EA!)

I think that's a completely fair comment, which is why I think it's worth the foundation having an entirely separate discussion on the matter, more than just a few extra radio buttons on a survey will manage.

No AI integration is planned so far, and most of the contributors and community are against it, so there's absolutely no chance this will happen in a foreseeable future. The Foundation just gave a contractual shout-out to a sponsor, and cannot really be picky on who gives money anyway.
