> The culture on X today is remarkably friendly and inclusive. It is a cheerful place. That cheerfulness is another differentiator. bluesky has a lot of problems but twitter is the only place i really see people running around calling people trannies in public. must be nice tho to be welcomed by X

also “(a) believe all use of AI is unethical, and (b) will shove their viewpoints into your replies” this is a skill issue. i haven’t had problems with this in roughly 4-6 months at this point since using anti-ai labeler and blocking a bunch of people

i also use x basically every day lol. he’s right it’s the only real place to keep up with a lot of AI stuff and i spend about an hour on it every day as a result. but i damn sure don’t know where “it’s a super friendly place” comes from and shows an obvious ignorance

i mean, one thing that his post _is_ kind of correct about is there are way too many people here who are insufferable when you're on a fresh account. there are various labelers and stuff that help a lot but they also have a lot of false positives...

accumulating a ton of blocks and blocking on your own helps a ton too, but its hard to convince people when they have to go through that first to have a good time. its a really hard problem...

Could you expand on "it's the only real place to keep up with a lot of AI stuff." I'm not on X but all my feeds feel inundated with AI stuff so I'm wondering what I'm missing out on

on X vs bluesky? there is just a lot of people posting research and similar over there that doesn't always make it over here. there's a ton of slop over there that has to get filtered through unfortunately, but a lot of the AI researchers are still over there rn

I see this take a lot, a lot of research gets posted there and not here, but is this another form of entertainment? Like research that changes your life or work, or just hey that’s interesting. I don’t go on X anymore but I have more ai content here than I can read. Maybe I’m relying on crossposters

White straight cis men be like "this place is friendly" when, in reality, they simply don't see the misogyny, the racism, the queerphobia, and the rest. It's friendly *for them*, which, in the case of Xitter, is literally by design.

One day BlueSky just had the sports juice, as if out of nowhere (although I'm sure it took a fair bit of organic growth until it hit critical mass). I've recently found a bunch of people posting about AI here, so it's just matter of time...[fingers crossed].

but you're right they do have a lot of good AI + nowadays 3js + creative work, especially now that the Chinese language + japanese twitter content is translated. I'm not sure what the solution is to bring this to bluesky.

sometimes you just gotta consider both sides like, on the one hand, I like living in America, and on the other hand, some roman statues think I should off myself and move back to Israel, a place I am not from

I think "friendly and inclusive" here just means "my content is amplified and my views don't get challenged", which is different to how others see "friendly and inclusive", but that's just a guess

Ya I feel bad about getting back on twitter, but I had to for my startup accelerator program (plus all the events here ask for your twitter handle). I think they toned down most of the blatantly nazi posters, they exist, but to lure people like me back in I see less of it.
