There is significant value in discovering the intersection between purpose in your career and fulfilling your family's extrinsic needs. True beauty emerges when you create a work-life balance that enables you to connect deeply with those you love regularly, addressing their intrinsic needs too.

Thats is what parent should do for their child. All child want is her parent to watch them and be proud for them. Just like I'm there for my daughter everytime she have some school events .

Yep. My son is in college now and I still do my best to show up for all of his performances with the school's Jazz club. His dad, too. I know he loves to see us every time from the way he always finds us afterwards to hear our praises. He'll never not know how proud we are of him. 🥰

Trust me when I say, be there for your kids. Your job wont remember those extra hours you worked. Your kid will remember you being there. It shapes their lives and identity. Your job just wants to make money off you and you get a bit in return.

No it's all of us!!! Every single person, old and young needs and deserves to be seen. Smile at a stranger. Ask the lady in the shop how she is. Tell someone how pretty they are. Say thank you and mean it.

Now, think of all of the 'non-anglo' kids who watched their parents taken away by this terrorist regime. and think of the dozens- hundreds of parents, who will never see their kids because of mass shootings- Sandy Hook, Uvalde, and many others. ya- I am going there! Tears of joy v sadness

It gives me nightmares all the time. I know how fortunate I was to have my parents involved in my school life. Yes. That was the generation back then: I'm a Boomer. But the children whose lives are being destroyed by immigration control. It's breaking my heart.

As a boomer, we had the air raid drills- "UNDER YOUR DESKS & CLOSE YOUR EYES" 30 seconds later, the sirens went silent & we went back to whatever the studies were. The threat was a ~million miles away, undefined- mass death & destruction was not mentioned Kids today now fear no parent & no life

I remember. Children today are much more afraid than we ever were. We would be afraid momentarily but then we knew our parents were there to pick us up be care for us to keep us safe. Children today don't have the same guarantees.

I've been down lately, but then my son, who's starting his 1st post college job, said he REALLY needed me to fly out to him to help him get adjusted to his new life. I almost cried. It's SO great to hear how much you mean to your family.

I was a professional soldier for over twenty years (retired army 1Sgt 1978-2000) and I missed some very important events in my kids lives. I have grandkids now and I don't miss anything. And when I say I don't miss anything, I mean I don't miss anything. I feel so much joy being there. I'm blessed.

This is why, when I said "I have to go for the xyz at my kids school today" or "I'm the surprise storybook reader at my son's kindergarten next week, so I"ll be in late," and the manager said "is that approved PT or vac time?" I said this is courtesy notice, not asking. Do whatever.

Shitty workplace. The answer should be have fun!, because we assume you took care of anything urgent, delegated and are a trusted adult who knows how to manage the time without hurting your peers or needing babysitting.

Yes. I was in a few shitty orgs and never worked anywhere where the wasn’t at least one bully dedicated to gaslighting and /or undermining efforts of employees. I’d get hired by a great person, who then announces their 2 wks notice😕 leaving me to the wolves. Finally retired
