I think even a basic understanding of democracy should be able to tell you that brow beating your constituents for not voting for the people you want them to instead of considering adjusting your platform isn’t going to work out for you.

Establishment Dems saw Trump win and spent a year telling us that they’re rolling back their desire to protect minorities and are somehow confused they are losing elections left and right.

At this point, it’s clear as day that Democratic Socialists are more in line with what most democrats want than the weak, sniveling, moderate establishment dems. You reap what you sow. They’re trying to frame this as if the party is being stolen, but it feels like it’s being taken back to me.

Democratic socialist policies are popular. Hell, they’ve been popular even when presented by republicans and posed as “patriotic” Universal healthcare isn’t popular with conservatives, but I’m sure patriotic fair care would be just fine

Understandable if you want to take this with a grain of salt as I consider myself far more left than the democratic party, but in my defense, socialists/anarchist are who I believed the Dems were before I became an adult. (I know how insane this sounds)

I never understand their shock when constituents aren't excited to vote for them. They've become the Party of One Step Forward — who are eternally meeting in the middle with the Party of Five Steps Back.

They've spent my entire adult life telling their most reliant voter blocs that they'd rather chase a guy who's never voted for them than advocate for them. The way top Dems talk about people who live in cities is so vapid. Not shocked at all that DSA has had so much success in places like NYC.

republicans certainly believed that’s what the democrats were. in the wake of the cold war, the party took that as the reason they lost 5 out of 6 presidential elections in a row rather than acknowledging it was a simple matter of the dixiecrats finding a new political home after lbj betrayed them.

Well also during the Bush years there was building anti-war sentiment/backlash to conservative Christianity and as a kid anyway, it was easy to conflate that with Democrats (even though they were onboard with a lot of it).

The DNC will say " Vote Blue No Matter Who!" And then give us the most heinous candidates imaginable. But now that we have actually good people making changes that matter, suddenly it's "No! Not like that!"
