I’m a 71 year-old professional photographer. I’ve Always thought email was just updated telegrams. Texting works for immediate conversations, but if you have a question, call me. In a few minutes I’ll answer it, and we can be done.

It's not just the disappointment that they do not comprehend, but the complete dismissal of the effort you put in.

I had a colleague who sat in the room next door; every time he sent me an email, he would come in to tell me he had sent it and wanted to elaborate on the content.

I used to have an old phone (preowned and was 8/9yrs old) and the speaker broke so i literally couldnt do phone calls on it. I disclosed this whenever someone tried or asked to phone me. Some got butthurt over it though??? (Starting lying when i got a new phone with the same reasonings)

I just called my local plumbing/HVAC company to speak customer service & got an AI agent. It was a little unnerving at first, but the question was answered & the voice did not register my awkwardness at having to speak on the phone. I am an AI skeptic, but I have to say I am okay with this!

There was an issue at work where a different team kept asking me why a task was stalled. I said "this is why". They asked again. I said "per my previous email" then rephrased it. They asked again, so I referred them to my boss. He said "He already explained it. You are being disrespectful." JUSTICE

No matter how detailed your writing, how much time you've put into composing it & documenting all of the intricacies, that call will then ask all of the questions that your message previously answered! It was frustrating enough as an introvert, trying throw aphasia into the mix 🤣

I have answered their question in the meeting with "Please read my response before inviting me to meetings about an issue. I explained the problem and potential solution in the email better than I can here." My boss was in the meeting. He told them I was right, and they needed to reread my email.

Or the call goes to voicemail. You explain everything that needs communicating. Then they call back later without listening to it so you have to explain all over again.
