Just had an anchovy pizza for the first time. I liked it well enough, but it really feels like people who swear by it are doing a bit.

I’ve never had anchovies on a pizza. Just in a Caesar salad, in pasta, or on their own.

That was me before today. Last night someone was singing their praises as a pizza topping, so I figured I’d check give it a try.

I assume they would just taste salty and crunchy? No other real flavor.

Salty, but not crunchy. They sort of melt away into the cheese but the texture of the scales is still perceptible.

I wonder if those are people that just generally like anchovies but havent realized you can buy and eat them on their own

The same bit as pineapple on pizza? Not sure I will go as far as swearing by it but yes to both. Yum! 😋

It’s a different bit. There aren’t really other common sweet pizza toppings, but there are plenty of other salty ones. (To be clear: I like both!)
