The team from @theaircurrent is seeking more information on this statement from the President. A massive amount of the U.S. fleet of mainline, regional, helicopter and military aircraft are "made in Canada."

He means he is going to charge the U.S. a 50% tariff on Canadian aircraft. Surely by this point someone must have explained to him what a tariff is. Maybe they used hand puppets.

The delusional twat is once again trying to circumvent safety measures designed to protect consumers and air travelers. Canada has unique environment and deicing requirements must be met by foreign and domestic manufacturers both... and proven Fuck america

What a great way to make Canadians feel warm and fuzzy about buying ANY American aircraft, never mind the remaining F-35s! At this point Canada should go with the Gripens. Anything else would be interpreted as capitulation to abusive tactics, encouraging the US to treat Canada even worse in future.

How about GA prop aircraft? Diamond builds them in Ontario. And does this decertify exiting aircraft already in the US? God, I can't believe I'm asking these questions.

Wait, he’s punishing Canada by making US airlines stop using thousands of aircraft they ALREADY PAID Canada for??? How does that work? Well, I guess this answers the question “How fecking stupid do you have to be to bankrupt a casino?”

The great irony being that Canada has sold many aircraft to the US in the past and currently sells relatively few.

Lol lmao trying to imagine trump doing something that would negatively impact his billionaire buddies; grounding private jets is probably the most taco policy imaginable

Beyond the obvious things here - TACO, he's just ranting - this is also self-contradictory, isn't it? Decertify, so you can't sell it, and also a 50% tariff...on the thing you can't sell? Am I reading this right?

I could be wrong, and certainly tell me if so, but I suspect a lot of these aircraft that are (allegedly) getting grounded are the ones that fly lower-demand hub-spoke routes to smaller cities like ATL-Mobile or DEN-Boise. In other words the most-inconvenienced people are likely to be red staters.

That's what I think Although it's usually quicker when a recognized certification authority already certified an aircraft. Couldn't find the source but read on another post that it would have to do with Gulfstream failing to provide engine documentation for change that were made.

Good fucking luck cancelling half of your regional flights because of a demented pedo fascist. All CRJs automatically grounded
