My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

LOL remember the time the fake Dan Sullivan tried to overthrow the government by inciting a bunch of angry jagoffs to storm the Capitol during the vote count? Oh wait, nevermind.

This post is unavailable.

This is a rough guide to Election Night viewing that I made. Count speed is based on the time the 2024 election was called, plus some manual adjustments based on recent experiences (California primaries; added time for US House races). Fast <2 hrs, Medium 2-4 hrs, Slow 4-8 hrs, Very Slow >8hrs.

I also fudged the time zones a little for a few states. For example: Alaska has a sparsely populated bit in UTC-10, and I'm not sure how the Navajo reservation affects Arizona. Overall, I expect we should have a pretty good idea where the night is going by 10 pm Central Time.

Also, it's possible there will be court-ordered extensions to poll closing times, as well as processing everyone in line. So actual poll closing might be minutes or hours after what is stated.

I believe my mom said she took me to see Ghostbusters when I was a baby, but I don't remember it. The first movie I was actually old enough to remember, I think, was probably The Care Bears Movie?

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

The answer is yes. He can win. Because he doesn’t throw trans folks under the bus, for one.

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

I hope tomorrow's ham radio operators aren't actually trying to learn anything from AI slop videos. Because some of them are laughably bad. These screenshots are from the same video, demonstrating how to make a choke balun with ferrite beads.

What's wrong with them: 1. Heat shrink goes around the beads, not laying flat on one side. 2. The BNC connector is on the wrong way, and I don't think that arrangement is even physically possible.

Just saw that the Criterion Collection has a 30-disc Stanley Kubrick box set coming out. And wow it's almost Christmas what a koinky-dink.

Basic common sense should tell you that nearly all of the trivial number of noncitizens who attempt to vote do so out of ignorance rather than fraudulent intent. It’s easily caught & risks serious criminal penalties for no personal benefit. No rational person would do that deliberately.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

Yep. Noncitizen voting is extremely rare AND there’s no real pattern in who does it; it can be people of any political viewpoint. That’s because it’s not some grand “voter fraud” conspiracy, it’s almost always what law professor Benjamin Plener Cover calls “voter mistake.”

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

Alina Pereverzieva 🇺🇦@perevaa.bsky.social

All three Yandex AI supercomputers are reportedly offline: Galushkin in Vladimir, Chervonenkis and Lyapunov in Sasovo, whose data center shut down after the Oct 8 strike. Yandex Cloud outages also threaten thousands of Russian firms relying on it for websites, databases and payments 👏

When it comes to education, my plan is simple- public dollars belong in our public schools for the public good. As governor, I will defund the voucher scheme and put that money back in our public schools where they belong.
