Do plumbers sit around talking about their wrenches? Who gives a fuck what people think of your tools?

I use agentic tools but i don’t really care about imaginary internet people yelling at me and i wouldn’t go back to x. The more general problem on here is that it is dominated by voices that represent a narrow slice of specifically American liberalism which makes it predictable and stifling

In a word - yes. But we're not just talking wrenches here. We're talking a class of tool that has (potentially) massive social and economic impact. Even if it weren't, digerati will commit textual jihad over what tool is pushing electrons and how. But thats usually within the subculture.

Yes, tradespeople talk about tools: Makita vs Ryobi vs Milwaukee vs… But they’re not emotionally invested in them. That’s just weird. bsky.app/profile/aozo...

Look, I’ve been using LLMs for at least a decade and I’m here to say that there’s something seriously wrong with anyone who’s this emotionally invested in AI.

This is very nearly what happens quite believably in a Bob's Burgers episode when a chef and a handyman have an argument about whether a chef's knife or a hammer is the finer tool and they each take it very personally.

Actual craftsmen frequently obsess over their tools and brand loyalty. But in their defense, those tools actually do the job they're meant to do and don't just start doing some other random task badly or try to gaslight their users into believing they've done their jobs properly.

"Come to X, it has AI embedded in it EVERYWHERE. Come with us Danny, use ChatGPT. You can use codex and write whole applications! Come with us Danny, and you can have free credits! Then we can have conversations forever. And ever. And ever. And ever. And ever. and everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

I am so fucking tired of AI bros everywhere. Like it is impossible to work a job without having to hear about AI. God forbid one website isn't an echo chamber for AI and tries to hold people accountable for using the theft machine.
