My big question is, "do they use gas like a regular car (meaning that I can drive 300-400 in-game miles on a single tank) or are they fast-draining bullshit like so many video game flashlights?" Because that bullshit isn't realistic or fun.

Two things immediately spring to mind: - will there be electric vehicles or do we just entirely ignore the last decade? - will the gas tank behave similar to a flashlight battery in a horror game, i.e. empty after 5 seconds of continuous use?

old enough to remember the freakout that you “needed to eat” in san andreas and all that happened when you starved CJ was a twink era. bet this won’t be a thing outside of missions, driving long distance, or maybe stealing poor people’s cars

Looking forward to the mission where you have to lead the cops on a Ford Bronco-style low-speed chase because if you get the lead out you'll run out of gas in the first minute

They need to have at least one cheap gas station so you get the full immersion of deciding you better get gas when you see the price while driving by I’m sure it’s viable up to as many as 3 wanted stars as long as the gas pump is easy to use

They need to add connivence stores attached to the gas station so I can drive by and go “maybe I’ll grab a snack while I fill up I won’t be able to have lunch till later anyways” they should also add the Circke K 3 dollar meal deal as a healing item.

So this will work one of two ways 1: it drains slow like mad max which will just make it kinda annoying that you have to pull over from time to time to fill up or 2: it drains like your car gets 0.5 miles a gallon and make it annoying even if you just steal every time you are out of gas

Looks like those sim elements are actually making its way to the singleplayer. Interesting. I bet it's not a big chore and is only to get you ready for the actual chore it will be in multiplayer.

Chores are not immersive if they don't come with risks or tradeoffs. Money in GTA offline has little purpose, because you essentially can get an infinite amount of it if you grind enough. Without a meaningful gameplay decision, it just wastes your fucking time. Rockstar *loves* wasting your time.

Hmm. I'm of three minds on this: -Potentially an interesting change, but it depends on implementation... -At this point I'm not sure I trust them to not make the cost to fuel up require real-world money. -ehhhh... Probably not playing GTA6 for a long time after release (if ever) anyway.

On the first point; It is essentially a hunger/thirst meter, but for your car... Implementations of those are... weird... because on the one hand, it always feels like those deplete way /WAY/ too fast, but on the other complete day/night cycles are less than an hour, so... 🤷‍♀️

Also, given GTA's history of car mods... could be interesting to mod (almost) any vehicle to electric with a solar panel on the roof/hood/trunk. Could be an option to let most any car go indefinitely, just not super /fast/ indefinitely.

I couldn't care less about GTA, could be interesting and experimental, but here's the problem, every other game trying to implement this shit and that's when it becomes annoying and a big problem

Just so I have this clear, when you guys say gas, are you referring to actual gas? Or do you really mean petroleum, which for some reason you people insist on calling gas (something which it is not)? Bit like how you call football ‘soccer’

gas(oline) is not petroleum. It is the same as petrol, which is a distillate of petroleum. People who set out to languge-police invariably make more mistakes.
