Great point: “Linda is the last card Elon has left to play,” Paskalis said. “Because if she can’t fix advertising revenue on the platform, then there’s no hope for him ever.”

great reporting!! a lightbulb went on for me as I realized that linda was that lady who interviewed elon at the ad convention, the one that people hought might sink twitter for good if it went bad. the reaction was mixed, some felt she was more tough in appearance than the content of her questions

ah great question!! 1) a source believes twitter is worth closer to $8 billion 2) her and elon both seem to have extreme right-wing views, but somehow people think she could balance it w/ left-wing views for the sake of revenue (im personally not so sure that’ll be the case, but something to watch)

Elon is definitely not looking for anyone to tell him what to do or reign him in—the question is if she (like the functional CEO at SpaceX) can manipulate him away from his worst instincts without him realizing it? Given how much control he’s carved out for himself, I doubt it.

Reserving judgment on the merits, will she actually have latitude to do her job, I wonder? Seems like Musk is keeping critical business functions like product, engineering and ops for himself as “executive chairman”, which leaves her to lead ad sales and things like— I dunno, HR and facilities? 😜

Very much liked this article! Kinda nervous that she was on a Trump council but the fact that she’s worked with Biden as well is promising. Maybe Twitter’s recent policies can get less partisan.

Tw wasn't profitable before Melon. With so many content creators leaving, what hope does he have? If and when politicians and media orgs decide that they're not getting enough of an audience there, that cud begin the ultimate choking death of that bird.

Good article. As I said before, I've been in several meetings with Linda Yaccarino. I'm a little surprised, but the choice makes sense, from the Musk point of view. She's an incredibly focused and strong person. Not sure if it will change the Twitter trajectory though.

Any thoughts on what her colleagues said in the article, sound pretty on the nose? Trajectory of Twitter, thats anyones guess. But what’s for certain is that she might be one of the only people who could fix the burnt ad bridges

I'm on the tech side, but she's about as smart as it gets in the ad revenue game. She's got the relationships and knowledge to make it work. The question is does Twitter have the eyeballs that ad agencies want to sell to? Raw eyeballs isn't enough, it has to be the RIGHT eyeballs.

Hearing that she’s a “staunch Republican” and went on the president’s council for Trump just to get near him should not be surprising given everything, but here I am—surprised.
