You can edit your nameservers using the at.marque.domain records Or edit your DNS using the at.marque.dns records Which allows for creating custom frontends, and implement Marque in other apps

if only this dropped like 3 days earlier 😭 it looks a bit more expensive but probably way less janky than the registrar I ended up with for a .at

I'm gonna be honest I don't get the point of making an at proto version of every app, like you still need to connect your bank account to this service to renew the domain so what's really the point

so from my reading the only benefit is that you can edit your nameservers and stuff through atproto, but I'm gonna be honest why would you need to do that? How often do you change them and it seriously isn't that bad using the porkbun UI or whatever to change them

You will eventually be able to one-click set-up a custom domain for Blento, Leaflet, Offprint, Wisp, etc And you can also one-click setup a custom handle There are many benefits for this

At (pun not intended) first I wasn't going to use it because prices seemed really expensive but now it looks fine (unless I'm stupid and just checked tlds that are more expensive and then just checked tlds with the same or similar price). But why would I buy a domain with a company that's so young?

Our prices actually got more expensive (they haven't changed much) so you probably saw a TLD that was more expensive than others You don't need to buy a domain with a company that's so young, but bigger domain companies sell domains at a lower cost (sometimes losing money) 🧵

So they lose money on domains and then try to shove web hosting, email hosting, or other things at higher prices to try to recover the cost They also charge a low rate for the first year, then make renewals more expensive We do the opposite, showing renewals first, and being honest about prices

We charge a fair price, which is wholesale from registries + our costs We also have partner fees (we are not an accredited registrar yet, so we use someone else's registrar to power our service) So the price you see is the best we can offer, and yet we are still better than some registrars.

Hey! I'm liking the service a lot. I'd recommend rearranging the ways domains are displayed when you're looking to register one. I wanted to look through the available domains and turns out there's lots! It's tremendously fun to explore but very inconvenient since they load just a few at a time

We cannot load all TLDs at a time because then the search would be unusable, that's why we do a little bit at a time, there are 2000+ TLDs

oh, wow. I think I'm out of my depth, but is there a way you could show a plaintext list of all domains somewhere? Just the TLDs, to find any oddities and niche picks that might be there. Then I can go to the register page and check availability of that one directly sorry if it's a silly idea 😅

also there's some weird priorities? I got plenty of niche/weird sub TLD stuff long before I saw .cafe or .club, for example. better filtering/loading of domains would be much appreciated for discoverability. I'm planning on migrating my domains to Marque, I adore the idea and service!

Excite! It might be that you don’t support mobile yet, but the home page “yourname .com” box is quite confusing. It reads like you only support .com domains? Then when I press “Search” I get a page that *always * says “Hmmm, nothing found” and redirects me back to the homepage after 1 second 😅

Nice! That works grand now ☺️ A new issue I'm running into tho 😅 (I hope you don't mind the bug reports here - shout if there's a better place!) Looks like the domain search requires login (according to the console error), but the website doesn't require it, so it silent fails.

I don't mind bug reports here, but our support widget is prob more organized and you can send logs/screenshots!

Does this offer a streamlined system to automatically change an atmosphere accounts handle, as opposed to having to change DNS TXT records and change it on Bluesky as well? This could be hugely helpful to reducing barriers to non-coders if so.

Looks super cool! Just making sure though, when I put in my personal address into the Contacts page, it won't get published, right...?

If the domain you are trying to purchase has whois privacy, and you select it during checkout, your data won't be published 😊

it'd be cool if you expose XRPC's so other services could potentially reuse creds (with scopes and user consent ofc) to register domains so wisp, leaflet, whatever can have domain registration built in, but then i dunno how payment could be handled. on a theoretical sense it seems possible to me

honestly cryptocurrencies make it absurdly easy on a technical sense but handling it is a logistical legal nightmare i dont recommend anyone to go through sob
