Rich old money neighborhoods went Cuomo. Young, up-and-coming (some gentrifying/gentrified) and more minority neighborhoods went big on Mamdani. That's a bit of an over generalization, but... sorta gets the point across.

as someone who lived in woodside (queens) for a few years, it’s hard to explain these neighborhoods. my fear is that nationally people will think, oh, nyc is super liberal & imagine young trendy voters, but these are working class neighborhoods w/ people from every imaginable country and background

As an UWS who ranked Mamdani first, it's worth noting that it was basically 1/3 Cuomo, 1/3 Mamdani, 1/3 Lander...so large a rejection of Cuomo. The UES? Not so much

I think UWS is less pro-Cuomo than this makes it look. He's actually running a bit behind his city-wide average there, but Lander is way over performing (25% vs 11 citywide), and most of those are going to break to Mamdani over Cuomo.
