I found this a good read. Much needed. Perhaps giving Trump a little too much “3D chess” credit but I think it captures how Trump views the world and his power. www.thebulwark.com/p/donald-tru...

The media won’t say it because Dems won’t say it. It wasn’t the media that nicknamed the ACA Obamacare. A judge had even said that called Donald a rapist isn’t defamation! Maybe Dems are worried about some of the issues men in their own party have…..
I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

They allowed zero points off a turnover
This might be the best game the Rams defense has played so far. Not many splash plays, as to be somewhat expected without Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie, but they're stuffing the run, putting the game on Kirk Cousins and winning all the money downs at the moment.

Normally, TROs aren't appealable--let alone "constructive" denials of them. Mark J. BENNETT (Trump), Patrick J. BUMATAY (Trump), Gabriel P. SANCHEZ (Biden). Live stream should be here: www.ca9.uscourts.gov/cases/stream...

Not the entire point of this long but must-read thread. But I found this penultimate point the best one to share.
I have very little patience for doomsaying and catastrophizing. The assertion of irresistible power is itself a key element of the authoritarian assault. We must not help them perpetuate it by giving in to pseudo-savvy cynicism and defeatism.

While this step would undoubtedly constitute a major escalation – one Trump has so far been reluctant to force, despite all the bluster and unhinged rhetoric! –, invoking the Insurrection Act is not akin to waving a magic wand that instantly vanquishes all opposition.

This whole thread is a weird fear I have. Particularly this part. If Dems win both chambers I can see Trump going so crazy to try and overturn the results on it only damages him more. GOP finally cuts bait and turns on him. And then Dems say. “Well that’s enough” and STOP.
Muddling through is not good enough. It's kicking the can down the road for the next would-be autocrat to try again and try harder. It can be repudiated as a fundamental discontinuity in legitimacy and its perpetrators punished accordingly or else the democratic death spiral doesn't stop with him.

The Founders would have plainly understood numerous Trump scandals as outright treason. Honestly, pre-1980 the public would have just thought of a president who behaved like Trump as a traitor.
That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.
