There are many reasons I can't stand T/this Admin - lies, manipulation, hyperbole are a few. I was just there TODAY. The water is NOT brown, it's actually clear. There is a thin layer of SEDIMENT on the bottom which is likely from the pipes when they turned on. A simple pool vac would fix it.

Never drained the piping system I'd say. Now it probably needs to be replaced. This fountain is 94 years old. It has sat inoperable for SEVEN YEARS. "...originally shut down in 2019 due to planned lower plaza upgrades and long-term infrastructure issues including broken pumps and leaking pipes" 😼

Oh, I should say that the Republican Party is responsible for decreasing the National Parks budget for more than ten years now. So, the Park Service didn't have the money to fix this fountain and all the other places in DC that needed fixing. And many national parks also suffered. 😼

Assuming the trump administration is responsible for this fountain, what can we expect, given that everything he touches turn to crap?

I heard a rumor that a group of deep sea divers with box cutters cut open the lining in the bottom of this fountain and have been shitting in the holes ever since.

I’m up the street on Columbia rd. This is a disgusting sight. We look at this constantly. He’s destroyed our beautiful capital. Restaurants gone. Ppl gone. His face is on everything! 🤬 HEARTBREAKING!

I’ve read that this is the result of spillover from fountains higher up in the park that were turned back on without the benefit of the extensive renovations that the lower fountain received. I’m thankful that any work has been done, frankly, as the fountain was nonfunctional for years.

Yeah. This is the danger of pushing symbols as political allegory. They’re already on fixing it after leaving it unattended for years. For us who actually live here, it’s hard to buy the narrative that this particular park hasn’t benefited from the administration (unlike much of the Mall).

If you’re going to spend taxpayer dollars on improvements, make sure they are improvements, and don’t pocket half of the funds before the job is done.

Noooo that was such a pretty place (I lived at 16th and T and used to spend a lot of time there in the early 2000s). Sometimes it was scary, but mostly just people playing pickup soccer, hanging out.
