FLASH: Justice Dept seeks to dismiss Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool criminal case against former Olympian David Hearn Trump Admin acknowledges: "Damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor"

Back in 2020, as a pediatric hematologist married to a physician, we signed up to volunteer in a field hospital for patients with COVID. We wrote our wills and worried about getting our kids sick. I posted about terrifying outcomes in kids and received death threats. Fauci is a goddamn hero.

Both Marco Rubio and Elon Musk, who led the effort to sunset the foreign aid agency, have said that no deaths have been linked to the cutting of its funding. These parents tell a different story.

TRUMP, throwing insults at Pope Leo: “weak on crime” “terrible for foreign policy” “catering to the Radical Left” “owes his position to me” “sit down and mind your own business” POPE LEO, unbothered: “We are called to love.”

🚨 BREAKING: A federal judge has ruled in favor of @ameracadpeds.bsky.social and issued a preliminary injunction against the CDC. The ruling pauses the Jan 2026 childhood immunization schedule revisions, blocks RFK Jr's 13 recent ACIP member appointments, and pauses all votes taken by the committee.

The U.S. was responsible for a strike on an Iranian elementary school, an ongoing military investigation found. The inquiry said the strike — which Iranian officials said killed at least 175 people, most of them children — was the result of a targeting mistake. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/11/u...

He should never hold a position of responsibility again.

Breaking News: Dr. Vinay Prasad, a polarizing figure at the FDA who oversaw vaccines, is leaving the agency. As the FDA’s chief science and medical officer, he made several controversial decisions, including overruling career scientists on some vaccine approvals.

We live in the dumbest of timelines.

Exclusive: After pulling out of WHO, the Trump administration is proposing spending $2 billion a year to replicate the global disease surveillance and outbreak functions the United States once helped build, which will cost about three times as much.

Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti. "Please get the truth out about our son."

Thankful to see the courts standing up for the rule of law when so many other institutions seem to be rolling over.

JUST IN: A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore $12 million in grants to the American Academy of Pediatrics, saying the terminations appear to be retaliation for the group's view points re: vaccine safety/efficacy. ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show...

We can expect more of this unfortunately as vaccine misinformation floods social media. What a horrific and totally preventable tragedy.

Kentucky Lantern@kentuckylantern.com

Third unvaccinated Kentucky baby dies of whooping cough. Pertussis, best prevented with a vaccine, has killed three Kentucky babies in the last 12 months. kentuckylantern.com/2025/11/25/t...

One of the great tragedies of our time. Completely foreseeable, preventable, and irreversible. Pure moral cowardice on the part of our political leaders.

The New Yorker@newyorker.com

One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Absolute madness to take something that all acknowledge has worked incredibly well and break it. And once again it will be the most vulnerable populations who suffer the most from this decision.

RFK Jr.'s hand-picked panel of vaccine advisors is expected to vote to delay the hepatitis B shot for newborns. Doctors warn that could fuel a return of a disease virtually eradicated in U.S. kids.

Very concerning news. Especially related to RSV vaccination which is one of the great technological triumphs in recent years to treat a truly debilitating respiratory disease among vulnerable infants.

Would like to see this in a peer reviewed publication but I have no doubts that the findings will be replicated. A foreseeable tragedy for pregnant women in TX.

Rubio claims that @USAID lifesaving assistance for health and humanitarian needs will continue. But his team just communicated that the entire agency will be imminently reduced from 14,000 to 294 people. Just 12 in Africa.

It is insanity to abruptly stop these programs. Even if the plan is to ultimately terminate them there is a responsible and ethical method to do so. This is neither and will cause irreparable harm and loss of life.

Atul Gawande@agawande.bsky.social

@USAID is enduring an unlawful shutdown, purge, and dismantling. It’s thrown its vital work into turmoil—based on spurious, absurd, and willfully slanted attacks. Here's what’s real: the massive and growing harm now being caused. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/h...

I fear this story will become more frequent among service women who likely have very limited knowledge of the possible limited scope of medical care available to them based on where they are assigned. Our service men and women should always have access to standard of care medicine!

This is not how a state should treat evaluation of maternal deaths if the goal is to reduce them.

Ziva Branstetter@zivabranstetter.bsky.social

After @propublica.org reported on the cases of two women — Amber Thurman and Candi Miller — who died after they couldn’t obtain timely reproductive care in Georgia, the state has dismissed the entire maternal mortality board. www.propublica.org/article/geor...

Would really like our respective professional physician organizations to endorse this approach. It should be all hands on deck. Maybe they’re waiting to see if the nomination is pulled but it feels like this isn’t the situation for a wait and see approach.

Sue Sanders, MD@suesandershere.bsky.social

Agreed about a physician constituent being given the most weight. A former staffer is who suggested it.

I am not sure this is at all debatable. In terms of lives saved it has to be at the top of all medical interventions ever.

Shematologist, MD@shematologist.medsky.social

Arguably, the greatest advance in healthcare in the past 100 years was the widespread vaccination of children.

You are up to date.
