Something that always confused me: I guess if I know where there's a shoeshine guy, I might get him to do my shit, on the way to some thing I need to wear formal shoes for...

But then, half the time you see dudes patronizing the shine guys, it'll be like this guy in the pic: not wearing formal ANYTHING. Least of all, the shoes! If the shine guy gets those informal, worn-out boots shining like mirrors, it'll just look weird. So he's just gonna...sort of clean them.

I remember going there in the ‘90’s(?) and there were a group of college kids dressed up like punk rockers with the spiked hair, which was long gone by then and they had a sign, “photo with a punk. £1”. Hell’s yeah I got my picture taken. Wish I could find it.

I was in London for 6 months in late 1975. It was a very exciting place to be for a boy who grew up in Oxfordshire. It was very dirty with lots of homeless on the streets. The rock bands were amazing. The beer was utter pisswater.

I think people forget just how chaotic public commercial spaces in city centers used to be in the 1970s and 1980s. Billboards everywhere, neon signs, cheap souvenir shops, street level clutter of newsstands and other pop-up businesses, etc. all covering the older architecture behind them.

Haha. He does look like Andy and you’re right, he appears to be holding one. It looks like the guy on the left with the sweater probably has one in his right hand too. Okay, now I believe the photo is real. Ha

Seeing Rocky 2 in the cinema as an 11 year old remains the greatest cinema experience of my life. I was a proper old flea pit with a huge seating balcony and the cheap seats down stairs. It was rammed with kids, a sell out. The final fight scene was like being at the fight, chanting rocky rocky

10 years before I was born. Now will someone explain to me in what ways things have 'gotten better' since then? From where I'm sitting it looks as cool AF, and arsehole tech-bros and world leaders with learning disabilities were a thing of the distant future.
