I guess she is having to deal with the reality of far right parties funded by very rich people, (the AFD for example) getting ever closer and closer to power, plus in the UK, well funded press and media (murdoch et al) who have whipped up consistent hatred against people seeking asylum. Not easy.

Has Ms Cooper anything to say about the vile racist attack and assault by two poisonous Geriatrics on an NHS Worker in a park in Halifax? Anything condemning that? Anything at all? Or are they now fully engaged in a 'Who can be the biggest Facists' comp with the fag ash fuhrer and the Tories? 🤨🤷‍♀️

Comparing 2015 pre-Brexshit Labour politics to now is pretty pointless. In 2025, with Trump in the White House, and the far right making gains all over Europe, sponsored by Putin & Musk, Labour are in a dogfight to keep the far-right out of power in this country. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

I'm confused too, I was told that the reforms were meant to bring Britain more closely aligned to the rules across Europe. You can argue that we should strive to be better but I guess the thinking behind it is to make us less attractive to asylum seekers🤷‍♂️

I remember this confusion the last time Labour were in power. Their Home Secs all seemed to turn fascisty. Makes me wonder how the civil servants who populate the home office are selected.

When you're in opposition, it's easy to be a naysayer; when you're in government all pretence at being bold and innovative is replaced by the politics of Pragmatism(as taught, behind closed doors, by Think Tanks and Media dictates).

Why are you confused? When Ed Milliband was LOTO and ran against Cameron, he was neck and neck in the polls after a surge of support from marginalised communities Then he made Cooper Shadow Home Secretary and saw that support collapse The clue was always there
