Hot tip for the next two years: a Republican bill does the opposite of what it’s called. A GOP bill defunding schools that mandate vaccines would be called the “Protect our Schools Act.” A GOP bill raising the retirement age for social security would be called the “Retire With Dignity Act.”

Yep. It helps their messaging w low info voters. That way when it fails, they can primary any Republicans who vote against it and replace them w MAGA. And also, as always, blame the Dems. "They voted against the Retire W Dignity act! They want you to work til you die!!!!!" Will be there messaging.

You can be sure that every bill Republicans propose will be harmful. All they care about is power, money, and punishing groups they don't like.

Just like the "Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act" which doesn't add any protection to women or further punish sexual assault. All it does is tell trans people they cannot participate in sports. Republicans definitely do not know how to read beyond a title.

The Nazis used euphemisms to disguise their true intentions from victims and bystanders: “Final Solution” meant the complete annihilation of all the Jews of Europe; “Resettlement in the East” - deportation to concentration camps; “Processing” - the selection, gassing, burning and disposal of people.

Rump and the rest of his flying monkeys actually had me believing there wasn’t enough water to fight the fires in LA, when it’s actually a process FF’s have to deal with while the tanks are refilled to reactivate the fire hydrants. This is so dangerous! The next four years will be Hell on earth!

Hot tip for #DNC #Democrats #America has lost the ability to understand any complexity so use stupid short names for everything you do. Some quick thoughts #PublicEducation = #AmericanKidsFirst, #GunReform = #DontKillAmericanKids, #WomensRights = #ProtectAmericasFuture, #taxClergy = #MakePedosPay.

Predicting "misnomer" will gain prominence in reporting over the next 2 years. Well, at least in independent news circles. MSM will continue with inventive wordplay. Going to need a bigger thesaurus.

This goes hand in hand with everything a Republican says should be considered a lie or misinformation unless you can verify it. They tell you it's raining, stick your hand outside to confirm. That's the level of trust to bring to Republican information.

Writing a deceptive and misleading bill description is exactly what Ohio Republicans did to deceive voters into continuing their extreme gerrymandering and control of the state. The Ohio Supreme Court (also Republican-controlled) ultimately approved the fraudulent ballot description.

It is called framing the subject. George Lakoff warned about this decades ago! The rwingnuts have become experts....calling anti-abortion, "pro-life". Sadly it is a long list....

Have a look at SB-382 in the NC General assembly from last 2024. Labeled as hurricane relief it didn’t put one red cent into WNC. It did strip the newly elected Dems of powers.

Yes, this is actually a common element of propaganda in democracy. I think I read this in Jason Stanley’s “How Propaganda Works” but, unlike in open authoritarian regimes which tends to be direct, “democratic” regimes tend to have inverted propaganda, where they do the opposite of what they say.

And I'm sure all the Republicans that voted for Donald Trump are going to be happy to send their children in the military to fight against our neighbors and allies and overtake Canada

Yes, so true. Lots of 1984 Orwellian double think. You see it now in MAGA, holding contradictory beliefs simultaneously helps maintain control. I could definitely see them use slogans like ignorance is strength or war is peace.

Yeah, but that's been the game since 2015 or earlier. Total doublespeak. And putting people in positions of power that have zero expertise and usually want to burn down the gov. Inside out, upside down, satanic.

Or - they sponsor legislation that has popular appeal and then don‘t vote for it! and when running for re-election (especially in competitive districts) cite the legislation they sponsor.

This is nothing new; reference the GWB years: Patriot Act (restricted many of our rights/freedoms in the name of security); No Child Left Behind Act; Healthy Forests Initiative; and Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act, for example.

Project 2025 was similar in that respect. The language they use is constantly couched in a very ultra patriotic manner. They're very big on problems that don't exist. And I have to say it was one of the most paranoid documents I've ever read in my life.

This entire situation we are all in is unsustainable. We need to face the shit, own the shit and quit strolling through life like everything is normal. Nothing is normal and going south fast!

Just like the 2017 'Tax Cuts and Jobs Act'. Tax Cuts for the Rich ONLY and 100 small cuts to the middle and lower earners - SALT, maintain teacher deduction of a whopping 250, etc. Look it up. Not sure where JOBS part comes in for 99% of citizens.

This has always been the case with Republican sponsored legislation. A bill rolling back clean air mandates during the ReGan Administration was called the Blue Sky Act.

I feel like they've been doing this for at least twenty... The old foobaw "run it till they stop it." The media has always been too in their pocket to call it out. We're screwed as long as wholesale lying and deception are not only legal but have a complicit propaganda industry.

I'm aware that Republicans have been in a moral & ethical nosedive since Eisenhower. MSW ante'd up a scale of two years, Not going out of my way to show them up in their own thread. Unlike *some people*, harumph! /tbf2msw, they were talking about what's to come, not the past
