> replacement certificates lol
This is an absolutely astounding press release from eMudhra. No apology, a suggestion that the researcher who found their private keys must have used AI, and an attempt to shift blame to auditors... wow. emudhra.com/en/press-release/emudhra-statement-distrust-global-tls-intermediate-root-ca
It was not immediately clear to me but the linked site includes a handy live test to check if your systems are still compromised. emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com
🚨 Six WebPKI Intermediate CAs are compromised. This is bigger than Heartbleed, but a client-side issue. Anything that verifies certificates against public roots, like most TLS clients, is/was affected. Details, live test, patched versions and workarounds at emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com Act now.

MapQuest, I owe you an apology. I wasn't familiar with your game

Trauma clinician here. Even if those kids are released tomorrow they will never be fully released from the trauma of their incarceration. They may leave Dilley, but they will never completely leave Dilley behind them. The impact is forever. That is what our government chooses to do to children.
Some children in Dilley were so distraught they cut themselves or talked about suicide, parents told ProPublica. They said kids lost their appetites after finding worms and mold on their food, had trouble sleeping, and were constantly sick. (Published February)

a reason that Stevens lost and other AIPAC candidates are losing despite the huge infusions of money is that Dem voters don't want to vote for a candidate who is funded by the same org who will immediately turn around and fund the Republicans
AIPAC: "Our members remain determined to ensure that voters reject Dr. El-Sayed and his radical anti-Israel agenda in November."
Breathtaking
Rich hues of sunset reflect off the wet sand in this painting of Monterey, on the California coast. The impasto brush strokes are loose and expressive, capturing the vivacity and movement of the scene. Reflections of Color by Erin Hanson, 2023 Oil on canvas 50 x 36 in #oilpainting #art #dailyart

American culture is so weird when it comes to death. In Mexican culture, death feels more present and insubstantial and I think that ultimately helps people be more clear-eyed in situations like this. Dying is not a thing that rewrites your life.
I got to know Senator Lindsey Graham traveling with him abroad in Afghanistan and Ukraine. We had just met to renew the fight for our Big Tech bill. Even though we disagreed on much, he was always willing to negotiate, with humor and wit. My heart goes out to his loved ones.
Really frustrating to see this when they struck gold with The 3 Body Problem, and then immediately suffocated it. It had everything going for it: an epic and complete story, proven producers, and great actors.
Netflix has an engagement problem. Viewers are abandoning shows after one season, and nobody agrees on how to fix it. Sources tell Lesley Goldberg that within Netflix, there's "tension" over how to grab (and hold) viewers' attention - mrf.lu/2NPp7
I know Bluesky doesn’t like Newsom. But a willingness to Just Do Things is a rare and valuable skill.
🚨BREAKING: California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) will introduce new legislation making ballot seizure before they are counted and certified by a state or county official a felony. In a July 4 recorded speech, Newsom was not shy about who the law targets. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Liz Soto and Savanna Batten are 2 of those sentenced to 50 years in prison for Prairieland. I visited them in a north Texas jail—11 months into their incarceration over a July 4 noise demo—to meet the Trump admin’s “Antifa terrorists”. from behind glass, Soto said, “They didn’t like my book club.”

Why the fuck does California not have RCV yet?
Steyer is tracking to lose to Hilton by ~1% so there are a lot of factors that could have made the difference, but it's pretty clear that if Trump hadn't endorsed Hilton (either no endorsement or Bianco instead) we'd be looking at a D vs D general election.
This is what drives me nuts about the Platner discourse. People talk like it’s either him or a Republican. There’s a vastly more qualified and progressive candidate already running.
“There may be.” FFS. Forget the flags. I have a literal masters degree in public health, I’m an actual union leader (in my second term as chapter president,) I’m a college professor, and a reproductive health advocate. And people are quibbling over if he abused his exes enough to be disqualifying.

One thing that does not get talked about often enough is intelligence/token. For example, Qwen3.5 9B has a much higher artificial analysis score than Granite 4.1 8B. But if you compare the output tokens required to run the eval, it tells a different story.
Ah, right. Reminds me of this writeup: www.levs.fyi/blog/2-years.... They found that a model with weaker general benchmarks (nova lite) preformed about the same as sonnet 4.5 on the classification task.

This attempted refutation is incorrect. 1. They also looked at couples rather than households and found it was still true 2. It is also true for market incomes by age 30 (the early 20’s lag is easily explained by more education time) 3. The square root adjustment is standard statistical practice.

Boom. Vulnerable House GOPer says he's going to try to kill Trump's slush fund via a legislative option. This confirms what I argue below, that this is an impossible thing for vulnerable Rs to defend.
Now that we know Trump's "settlement" with IRS will nix audits, potentially saving him millions, Jamie Raskin's push to force Repubicans to vote on this whole fiasco looks more urgent. Make Rs defend this with Trump 31 points underwater on the economy: newrepublic.com/article/2106...
