An NPR investigation uncovered 40,000 vets facing foreclosure due to a VA mistake. A rescue program is helping many of them, but others fear being left out if Congress cuts this new lifeline.

I still haven't & NEVER WILL FORGET that Steve Mnuchin (yes, THAT guy) foreclosed on thousands of military in 2008 - while taking federal dollars to 'buy out' Indymac, and create his own One West Bank, taking more fed $$ to NOT foreclose, then foreclosing anyway & selling OWB-AFTER he triple dipped.

Yes, but veterans have a particular affinity for this guy bc a lot of the past quarter century of anti-terror wars have created a military that is particularly susceptible to this brand of jingoistic rhetoric. J6 first time round showed many were veterans.

Spread this far and wide. Foreclosure on veterans’ mortgages because of VA/Musk/Trump “mistake.” Potential homelessness for these veterans, due to the gov’t.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a nomination for “post of the night “ !! Bravo, I salute you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾 ( Informative/Real 💩 + Human categories)

Congress should try getting up on their hind legs for the people who put their lives on the line for our country, instead of cowering like whipped dogs when the master raises his arm.

Shit is criminal. I'm not keen on war, but if you enlist people with benefits promised for time served, you damn well owe it to them. My friends on Tricare can barely find providers who take the insurance and most colleges won't take GI BILL. Why would anyone enroll?

A leaked memo revealed that the dept is planning on firing 83k employees later this year. While Blumenthal's bill has little chance of getting taken up while Repubs control the Senate, it does mark the latest, strongest effort to date by Democrats to confront Repubs on the issues of cuts to the VA.

oh okay i found it way down at the bottom of the article... "head of the VA's home loans program, John Bell, testified that 15k veterans have had their troubled mortgages rescued by the new VA Servicing Purchase program That number was not greeted with applause by SOME REPUBLICANS on the committee."

If I were interviewing victims for these "the govt. is screwing over people who don't deserve it" stories, my first question would always be: Who did you vote for? Because I suspect we're, at least in part, portraying as victims people who are simply reaping the harvest of their own vile politics.

This is unbelievable!! Everyone who votes against republicans democrats, libertarians, independents, whoever! Should be put on the frontline of any conflict and left

Most of these vets likely voted for trump and the gop majority that exists ... they are now experiencing the 'find out' phase of FAFO ... tough shit, vets ... so many of you voted for a coward, draft dodger and con man who disparaged our military so many times, it's not even funny ... SHAME

The only thing that will smarten up Trump voters is for them to feel some pain from what the orange turd is doing. Unfortunately, there will be a lot of collateral damage to those who didn't .... but this is inescapable and the only thing that will bring change in the Republican Party.

"Under current law, Members receive regular paychecks during government shutdowns while thousands of federal employees are furloughed without pay." This is egregiously unfair, especially now that we're under a regime and not a government.

That's why these one-time good deal programs are very dangerous. They can't just be stopped abruptly. And, the VA needs programs to help those with disabilities, seen or hidden. This country should support them over another tax cut to the rich. The Vets served to keep us safe!

Both parties in Congress seem to be aligning against veterans and federal workers. One party by spreading disinformation to benefit billionaires. And the other party by remaining silent…to benefit billionaires.

Remove Trump. He's one traitorous man causing grief, destitute, anxiety, destroying medical supports, incomes, confidence, and relationships with allies. He's war mongering on the side of historic enemies. One man who needs boundaries and consequences. Take him out of the picture and make it right.

As usual NPR buries the lede. Republicans in Congress want to kill the rescue plan knowing thousands of veterans will then lose their homes to foreclosure. And that’s what your fucking headline should tell people. But the article doesn’t even mention it until the FOURTEENTH PARAGRAPH.

And the Republican with the bill to kill the rescue plan? 2 years ago he yelled at the head of the VA loans program “you better develop a rescue plan!” But the article doesn’t mention that AT ALL. Eat shit, NPR. I am sick of how you always look for a way to help Republicans evade accountability.
