A few days ago, President Trump issued an executive order seeking to block all federal funding to NPR, the latest in a series of threats to media organizations across the country.

Hey all: now is no time to withdraw support! If I had a giant foot, I’d drop it on Bannon and squash him like a bug, but I’ve nonetheless listened to what he says: it’s predictive of what we’re facing. It’s horrific, it’s news. I cant imagine life without NPR and PBS. Support with all you’ve got!

Hey NPR, you guys should really consider doing some actual journalism and investigating these fascists instead of platforming them. Why would I want to give you money just to boost the fascists thay are defunding you???

The number one job when reporting on 2 Dolls Donnie’s EO’s is the ask “Does he have authority” to do this?” 90% of the time, like in this case, the answer is NO Congress is the one with the authority Do you F’n JOB media

Don't you think that there is a point where you cannot process anymore bad news? What I am suggesting is not having every story on All Things Considered about something awful. It's like the environment. Tell me what I need to know, but encourage me with success stories.

That's the point where you step away. I can only absorb so much in a day, too. We're living in increasingly terrible times and it would be a slap to our face if they didn't keep after it. That being said, I think the legacy media sort of revels in all the suffering

why would a prez want to keep America ignorant and dumb? I do not get it- NPR, PBS, 60 Minutes (CBS) have been invaluable for many children, teens and adults for over 55 years. It can only be about cruelty and having a Dictator in charge. DO NOT CAPITULATE TO THAT EVIL PERSON!

And Katherine Mahler's groveling performance in Congress didn't protect you for a second. Learn the lesson. Quit sane-washing what he says, quit bending over backward to give the regime the benefit of the doubt, and fight if you want to survive.

There's a movie called "Red Dawn." It's about a Russian invasion in the USA. In Trumps "Reality Show," which I'd call nothing about it, Patriotic, Constitutional, or Legal, therefore I won't recognize it as presidential! We are in an "Orange Dawn", Trump Kills Democracy! WE CAN'T ALLOW THIS! #FIGHT

By fundraising off of Trump's executive order, NPR implicitly concedes that Trump has the power to defund them. Turning to alternate sources for funding is just another way of complying with him. Their response should be "see you in court"

So you keep sanewashing him, uncritically amplifying his garbage, and complying with his illegal and unreasonable demands, and that doesn’t protect you? Who could have seen that coming besides everyone?

The GOP plans to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which receives $535M/year, or about $1.5M/day, in federal money to fund media networks like PBS and NPR. Elon Musk receives $3B/year, or about $8M/day, in federal money to fund his private corporations. www.yahoo.com/news/know-ru...

We report stories that keep you and your community informed, every day, without fear or favor. Millions depend on the NPR Network. Now, we’re counting on you. Donate here: n.pr/3EYClNR

As a Canadian, all I can legally donate is advice: Go at him harder, expose every illegal moves he makes all the time. Just so everyone knows why he's doing it. And you'll get support from it too... There is no point in holding back anymore. All you've got.

my position is that NPR and the media's coverage (as a whole) did not, and is not, doing an adequate job conveying the magnitude of the threats this administration poses. their tone needs to express more urgency and meet the moment.

The Trump attack on Public Broadcasters NPR and PBS is another signal that autocratic behaviour is on a steamroller ride through any source of responsible source of news.We in Canada just dodged a bullet as our defeated right wing party campaigned on defunding the CBC radio.

I’d donate, but you just had an interview with Bannon, so fuck that. You want to serve the public, stop both-sidesing everything and stop platforming extremists.

Why the hell would I give someone money knowing they would use that money to kill themselves? If NPR wants to pull its head out of its ass and investigate fascists, they can have my money.

Yeah. They’re afraid of the right accusing them of being the “liberal media,” so they sanewash fascists and do puff pieces on far right extremists and then the right calls them the “liberal media” anyway. It’s the most predictable thing ever, but nearly ever major media source keeps on doing it.

Just donated. To those whinging about “both-siding”: journalism presents both sides. It also fact-checks and calls out those who mislead. One of my favorite features of NPR is listening to some stooge get his a$$ handed to him by one of the excellent reporters DOING THEIR JOB.

Journalists and news media need to start covering the US government as they would a third-world dictatorship and land those serious investigative pieces on these crooks. Here’s a starting suggestion: Every single place DOGE has been in the US gov IT systems, along with profiles of every staff.

Maybe, and I’m giving friendly advise, stop bending over backwards to give cover to republicans? You carry all the water and still get punished. Why don’t you stand up for your rights, for freedom, for America?

Absolutely. What’s worse is that the more they give in, the more the fascists demand of them. Fucking have some courage and watch your donors multiply.

Maybe Musk or Bezos can buy NPR so they can keep gaslighting Americans about the wonders of trickle-down economics and why billionaires get all the rights while the rest of us are left with only responsibilities.

I'm an avid listener and supporter. I did stop my support when it felt like NPR was giving slanted support (or a pass) to the admin. In the end it didn't help you and certainly didn't help the people who rely on you to fulfill your constitutional check on power and push back.

Two days ago I became a NPR+ subscriber when your funding was cut. I even emailed my representatives as requested even knowing it wasn't going to help. They don't care about public sentiment. They don't care about the rule of law or the constitution. We'll support but GO FIGHT LIKE HELL FOR US!!

I am continuing to donate in hopes that NPR stops platforming bad faith fascists. Please start reporting what’s happening without fear of disingenuous people. They will call you marxists and attempt to cut funding no matter what, so report the truth and punch back. Decorum is dead.

I'm considering re-subscribing but will do so by giving them 1 year of grace to get their shit together. Might send a copy of my donation via letter when I ask them to stop platforming fascists and sane washing the dictator.

The PROBLEM is that your organization spent the entire 2024 presidential campaign NORMALIZING HIM. And WNYC star-interviewer spent Jan 21 shrugging off Musk’s inaugural seig heil salutes. And has yet to issue any contrition or apologies …

Like many things DJT self-blind to the WHY of this nation is tragic. Those who cannot remember (or read) the past are condemned to repeat it." Beyond... Donald Trump kept Hitler speeches beside bed!

Where's NPR's coverage of the largest Los Angeles strikes in history? Your former donors would like to know. I happen to be one of those former donors that assisted in directing other's funds as well to NPR. That's currently something that I will not do. Your coverage is largely pedestrian at best.

NPR is awesome and they do not have the luxury of being biased, unlike the private media. I bet it's hard for the reporters to keep their cool, but they do! There's a reason NPR is being threatened and all you haters are only helping the maga movement get what they want

Let’s send millions of messages to that tyrant in ways that we must: this is our NPR! Backpedal his clogged, black heart with cheeseburgers and tinctures.

It's like Americans have a death wish for their democracy. NPR is not perfect, but if USA is going to have ANY non-corporate media, now is the time to get out your credit card. Don't let the perfect get in the way of the attainable. You can whip NPR into shape later, if it survives.
