To be fair... Trump doesn't actually offer much to be reported on without providing context to the side. If you just report what he says, you will just be reporting lies.... And all he ever did when questioned was lie. So doubt anything will change, even though it should result in impeachment.

The White House is the People's House, and he's just a government employee who gets to live there. He doesn't have the legal power to ban the free press or violate the First Amendment of the Constitution. This is another impeachable offense that will be addressed after the new Congress convenes.

It is so frightening to see how little backlash there is about this (and so much else Trump is up to) -- from politicians and the media. Will all other media just carry on as usual? Will there be any serious protest (and maybe serious fact checking about Trump's lies that never end)?

The EU is democratic and civilized, and we have a free press. If one of our heads of government denied the press access to government press conferences or other information, that government would be over. The people would make sure of that.

Restricting access is also a warning to every outlet covering the administration: report what officials want, or risk losing the access your reporting depends on. That pressure can narrow the public record.
