As someone with an actual seminary education, amen and amen. My favorite was the guy on Instagram who confidently told me that the verses in Leviticus concerning welcoming the stranger no longer apply since Jesus said God helps those who help themselves 🙄

IDK what good it does to read the Bible ~ everybody gets different interpretations, everybody believes what they want to about it. And there are so many religions in the world ~ none of them right! Just be good people... and hope Someone comes to save us.

I always believed that if I was meant to understand the Bible (in the context in which it was written), (that) "God, whatever It is" would make it clear to me (not only "the calling", but the interpretations). Until (or unless) that time came, I would not profess to know God, the Lord,... 👇

or Scriptures; I would try to be a good person, try to live by example. I don't think I ever claimed to be a "christian", unless trapped. When asked "are you a christian"? My preferred response was "Well, I believe in God", but followed w/ the argument that what we believed abt God differed. 2/2

If your husband dies without giving you children, you may lay with his brother to have a child and that child will be of your husband. If his brother refuses thou shalt remove his shoe and spit on him.

I received as a gift a bible. I started to read it and could not get past genesis. Adam and Eve had 2 sons that ‘married’ their sisters? I guess I have too much scientific knowledge keeping me from believing nursery rhymes.

Genisis 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth". In Hebrew, the term

for "dominion" is primarily represented by the words Radah and Memshalah. The word Rahah means to rule, have dominion, or exercise authority over creation. It conveys a sense of active governance and responsibility. Memshalah The term expresses the idea of rule or government,

indicating both the authority exercised and the realm in which it is applied. It can refer to God's sovereign reign or the delegated authority of humans and angels. My take on dominion. Is a relationship of stewardship that would suggest that mere control is not what a God would have in mind.

You'd think some of them would have encountered Ezekiel 16:49-50 and Deuteronomy 27:19. They're purposefully being kept from those scriptures by those described by I Timothy 6:3-5.

I ask to see the Bibles; you HAVE to ask to see the Bibles. Some denominations have been retooling the bible into "clearer" interpretations and they are SHOCKINGLY loose with their interpretations. Ask to see the Bible in Question, some of them have Jesus commanding his followers to kill.

What I love about TX demanding bible stories in school. Those OT bible stories were FIRST written down in ancient Sumer. Long before Judaism was even invented. The great flood, the kings list, the Enuma Elish which inspired Genesis. So, what they're asking for is Sumerian stories about god. HAHAHA

We should really give some thought to Noah and his ark. After all, it was the first rescue mission in the history of biodiversity. But the question we have to ask is: what had the human chains already wiped out back then, if the pitiful remnants could all fit onto a boat like that?

Problem is upon lifting the bible up they agree to drop any intelligence they may have had, thus reading is a sin to/for them.

I grew up in Texas and was taught the Bible. I realized it was an interesting story but very similar to all the othe religious text. None can be taken literally as they were all passed by word of mouth long before books were available.

With historical context, please. And the knowledge that all religious stories borrow from one another, because who doesn't love a good story?

How often have you read any book several times, says don't remember that last time I read it? King David nearly didn't exist nor his line to Mary, if Judah who married a Canaanite, didn't sleep with his daughter-in-law Tamar who was a jewess. Think about that Genesis 38

No sis has gnosis, the patriarch said, And if you don't like my version - then off with your head! It's all for Jesus, the preacher went on, He turns a blind eye when I'm banging your son. God's holy rules are for you and not I, Only the white man has a friend in the sky.

The Republican Party has insured the destruction of education in the United States since the 1980's. It's been an agenda of the Heritage Foundation , Pat Robertson and Jay Sekulow. You know Trump's impeachment attorney.

I decided to read other religious books and listen to other religions' podcasts at some point. I decided to write a novel called Tempting the Devil Himself with an epigraph that treats all religions like parts of a big puzzle. If we share the same ideology, you should check out the book on my page.

Too many that took the wrong definition of "works of the law". Now you have "christians" that think they are permitted entrance to their heaven without good works

If they really did, they’d be horrified that anyone would look to its psychotic, rambling, incoherent cruelty & arrogance for any form of inspiration, much less guidance. Solomon was monstrous. Threatening to chop a baby in half!? What if the mother had called his bluff? Who would threaten a child?

And Abraham willing to kill his child? What kind of monster would ever demand such a horrible thing and what kind of monster would actually consider DOING it!? The Bible is a horrible & immoral model for ethical human behavior.

James Baldwin: "The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality." I say “f*ck the bible and all those sky religions that rode in on it”
